Desperately Seeking... Great Backup SoftwareYou may recall that I'd been using Windows Live OneCare for my backup solution (using Windows Vista) and had been surprised as it proceeded to eat a 250G backup drive, backing up a 60G drive (yes, the backup media was taking 4x the original size of the drive). The issue was that every single backup was done to new space on the drive, rather than just keeping the differences since the last full backup and overwriting newly updated materials... basically, it was a new copy each time you ran a backup. Ugh. So I changed out my backup and have been using Acronis True Image Home. What a great package. I'm very impressed in my testing — from a great interface to an excellent setup and good speed, this software really looks to be a great answer. I've had no issues configuring a full system backup to run Sunday morning at 1:00a and then differentials every other day at 3:00a without filling the hard disk inefficiently as it goes. It works very well and we'll be doing some continued testing and will let you know what we find out in terms of restores and recovery processes.
