Acronis and Computer 2000 join forces

Vendor and distributor embark on joint goal to penetrate the virtualisation and cloud backup market through vast reseller reach

London, UK, 28 February 2012 - Acronis, a leading provider of easy to use disaster recovery and data protection solutions for physical, virtual and cloud environments, has teamed up with Computer 2000, a Tech Data company, to increase the breadth of active resellers it is transacting with in the UK.

The announcement marks the fact that Tech Data Europe and Acronis now have distribution agreements across five countries in EMEA. In January, Acronis announced that in 2012 it is embarking on a partner recruitment hunt. This new partnership with Computer 2000 will be fundamental to reaching this goal.

Computer 2000 has added Acronis in the UK to broaden its existing backup and disaster recovery portfolio and to support its goal to offer excellent virtualisation products and cloud services via its partner network.

The partnership will focus on helping SMBs to secure their data across physical, virtual and cloud environments. According to the Acronis Global Disaster Recovery Index, the average UK business is now backing up 38TB of data each year. This data growth, coupled with the move towards virtual environments and the cloud, are placing new pressures on the SMB which opens up an opportunity for resellers to educate their customers.

"This year we are really focused on the opportunities which virtualisation and the cloud present. Acronis Backup & Recovery ® 11 Virtual Edition and Acronis® vmProtect™ 7 provide easy to use backup and recovery for virtual environments where we are seeing a lot of success. In addition, Acronis also has a solid award-winning online backup service," says James Reed, Software General Manager at Computer 2000.

"Computer 2000 is a well established distributor and we're pleased to be working together. The scale of its marketing and sales operations, the scope of its reseller network and its focus on the SMB this year, will be hugely beneficial to Acronis. This relationship underlines the next stage in our UK development and the consolidation of our distribution strategy," said David Blackman, general manager at Acronis.

Acronis and Computer 2000 will launch joint go-to market campaigns from March, including a co-branded reseller recruitment microsite, an SMB road show, joint telemarketing activities and Computer 2000's License Online.
