Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0
Take a look at Acronis data migrating aid
It takes a long time to get your PC how you like it. Installing all of the programs you use, setting up Windows, creating all of your personal folders, finding and storing hundreds of Internet favourites... it all takes time. So, when the option of upgrading your PC comes along, you're met with a strange feeling of joy and despair. On one hand you'll have a shiny new PC, and on the other that daunting task of setting it all up again. Whatever can you do? Well, this is a quandary that Acronis has been good enough to tackle, and with Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0, it aims to make this situation a breeze.
As you'd expect from any data migration software, Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0's basic function is to copy and move data from one drive to another, preserving the image exactly so that you can move your drive image to another hard disk, and/ or PC. Once done, you can then use the new system or hard disk as if nothing had happened. Your data will be sat there, intact and ready for use, leaving you no need to go through laborious set-ups or installations. The cloning process used to copy a drive is very easy, using a wizard-based approach that guides you smoothly along. By stepping through the onscreen instructions you can prepare the clone image and the destination disk, ail without any specialist knowledge. Ail options are saved into a scenario, and no changes are made to any drives until you set this scenario into action. When done, the program wilt take care of the whole duplication and migration process.
As well as drive cloning, Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0 also has toots that can help you add a new drive to your system, including setting up partitions and formatting them. This is very useful if you have a brand new hard disk that is yet to be formatted, as you can take care of everything in one application.
Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0 also contains an option to create bootable rescue discs, which can be used should your system become unstable and unable to boot up. This is a very nice addition, as cloning discs can sometimes cause problems when moving volumes to a totally different PC, and having some technical back-up on hand can be a life-saver. Support for file systems is good, and the program can handle migrations from all major types, including FAT16/ 32, NTFS, Linux ext2/ext3, Linux SWAP and sector by sector, for corrupted systems. The program also supports large volumes over 180GB.
I quite liked Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0. As is usual with Acronis software, the key word is simplicity, The package has been designed with all users in mind, and not just the technically proficient. The wizards help the process along, and everything is explained to you as you do it. The additions of bootable rescue media and the ability to set up new hard disks is a bonus, and only serves to round off an already good product. White il may net be powerfut enough for some, as it's tacking a lot of the more useful features of other competing migration tools, for the average user, this is a nifty tool to have.
