Acronis Sponsors Mikhail Grachev of WestCoast Racing for the Malaysian Round of TCR International Series

The partnership will lead to innovation of new technologies to meet the need of motorsport teams and other businesses whose success depends on data availability.

30 September 2016 - Acronis, a global leader in hybrid cloud data protection is very pleased to announce the sponsorship of Mikhail Grachev of WestCoast Racing for the Malaysian Round of TCR International Series held at the Sepang International Circuit during the Malaysia Formula One Grand Prix weekend 29 September - 2 October 2016.

Michail Grachev has won four titles this season, all for the Swedish motor racing team WestCoast Racing, with the latest win in Singapore two weeks ago. The TCR International is the youngest touring car racing series gaining immense popularity around the world. WestCoast Racing also competes at the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC), with the heir to the Swedish throne Prince Carl Philip as one of the racers!

Acronis will support Michail Grachev at the TCR International series in Malaysia, and continue its support for Scudeira Toro Rosso Formula One team with whom Acronis signed a long term partnership agreement earlier this year.

Acronis is committed to the investment in motorsports as it draws parallels between its products, particularly with the pursuit of speed, innovation and being the best in the industry. Acronis' fast and innovative technology made the company #1 data protection vendor in the world.

The Formula One support event in Malaysia is also the first year anniversary of the TCR International series. As one of the support races for Formula 1, the TCR series has risen in popularity since its inception due to its close-quarters driving style and spectacular overtaking maneuvers.

Acronis is proud to celebrate this occasion with a driver who has enjoyed tremendous success in his debut season, having clinched maximum points and a podium in Singapore, and looking to secure his fifth podium at the Malaysian GP. Acronis will further support Mikhail Grachev by providing access to the world's fastest data protection technology to protect telemetry and other data used in the development of his car.

"I am very happy that Acronis has decided to support my participation in this event. The TCR International Series is only in its second season and I am pleased that it attracts high caliber technology companies like Acronis. The Malaysian race is very challenging and exciting at the same time. Extreme temperatures will push the drivers to the limit, and with the car tyres reaching their maximum wear well before the end of the race will make it a very interesting 30 minutes to watch," said Mikhail Grachev of WestCoast Racing.

"We are proud to support Mikhail Grachev for the race in Malaysia. With our focus on innovation and the development of fast and easy products, Acronis shares similar values with TCR. We are sure that the data collected during this race will enable WestCoast Racing to develop new technology to increase the car performance in these extreme conditions. And Acronis will provide solutions to make sure this data is safe," said Serg Bell, CEO and founder of Acronis.

The team's success depends on data-driven innovation and scrupulous preparation of cars leading up to each race. Acronis' fast, easy, and complete data protection is perfect for racing teams as it enables them to focus on what they do best - perfecting their cars and designing new race strategies. With the world's fastest data protection products, their data will always protected and restored in just a few seconds whenever the need arises.

Acronis' complete set of data protection solutions are based on the company's new hybrid cloud architecture and designed to provide data protection and recovery in virtually any IT environment. As the world's fastest backup solutions in the market today, the Acronis Backup 12 is the #1 SMB backup solution, the Acronis Backup Cloud is the #1 could service provider backup solution, and Acronis True Image is the #1 personal backup solution.

Acronis continues to develop new technologies and has plans to extend its global R&D activities to Malaysia to support the recently announced partnerships with M-Link and Exabytes. The two leading Malaysian IT providers will represent Acronis in the region and provide local point of contact and local cloud storage to Malaysian customers.

To celebrate the partnerships and show support for Mikhail Grachev, Acronis' Boston-based CMO and SVP Channel and Cloud Strategy John Zanni will travel to Kuala Lumpur this weekend to meet with local service provider and discuss how Acronis can meet the needs of motorsport teams and other organizations, whose success depends on data availability.
