Backup Archive Encryption in Acronis True Image Echo

 Printer Friendly
Last update: November 16, 2007
Using Acronis True Image Echo you can encrypt backups with industry standard algorithm

Description

When setting a password in the image creation/scheduling wizard, you can choose to encrypt the backup for advanced security with industry-standard AES cryptographic algorithm. The password is used to generate a key which may differ in length.

There are 4 options presented to you when specifying a password:

  1. no encryption
  2. 128-bit encryption
  3. 192-bit encryption
  4. 256-bit encryption

The bigger the key size, the longer time it will take for Acronis True Image Echo to encrypt the image and the greater your data security will be.

More information

Once a password has been set for a backup archive, it can never be retrieved if lost or forgotten.

There is also an option to set a password for Acronis Secure Zone. This type of password does not offer you any encryption options as Acronis True Image needs it only to access Acronis Secure Zone. Once this password is lost or forgotten, it cannot be retrieved either.
