Cabot Corporation Standardizes On Acronis True Image Server For Windows

September 27, 2005, South San Francisco, CA — Acronis, Inc. (www.acronis.com), the technological leader in storage management software, announced that Cabot Corp. (NYSE: CBT) has standardized on Acronis True Image Server 8.0 for Windows, the latest version of Acronis' award-winning disk imaging, disaster recovery and bare-metal backup and restore utility.

The software allows systems administrators and network managers to image servers without impacting system performance or causing user downtime. Features of the Windows Server version include the ability check the disk image integrity before restore and file system integrity after restore, to exclude paging/hibernate files from the disk image, and assign the priority for the disk imaging process. As a result, system administrators can manage the server performance balancing between the backup process and server applications.

"Cabot Corp. is a multinational chemicals company and one of the world's leading suppliers of carbon black," said Tushar Patel, IT manager for Cabot Corp. "Our operations run 24/7 globally, so it is absolutely imperative that our servers are available and operating. Downtime can cost an enormous amount of money — it simply is not an option."

"Not only do the servers running Acronis True Image need to be available continuously, we needed a solution that could work while servers were running mission-critical applications such as enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management systems that are vital to our operations. Ensuring that these servers can be restored in minutes in case of a failure was a key factor in choosing Acronis True Image," — Patel added.

"Our Acronis implementation has been 100 percent successful. We already experienced one server failure, during which Acronis True Image Server for Windows saved us approximately 10 to 12 hours of configuration time. Our return on investment was counted in minutes, not days," he said. "Acronis True Image Server exceeded our expectations."

"While Acronis True Image Server was originally conceived as a solution for the small to midsize business market, Cabot Corp. demonstrates it's the software's flexibility in large enterprises that require point-in-time backups of servers running mission-critical applications," said Max Tsypliaev, president of Acronis Inc. "Understanding your server requirements and matching those requirements to the right disaster recovery product is essential, and with Acronis' range of offerings, we're able to meet even the most demanding needs of some of the world's most complex computing environments."

"Cabot Corp. is not unlike so many other publicly held enterprises," said Stephen Lawton, Acronis' director of marketing. "Cabot has regulatory and compliance requirements that can be overwhelming without the right backup and disaster recovery solution. Acronis True Image Server for Windows provides that exact mix of technological expertise that makes the compliance officers happy, while providing the kind of value and cost effectiveness that brings a smile to the CFO as well."

Financial terms of the agreement were not released.
