 Printer Friendly
Last update: June 07, 2008
You will need to delete keys and strings from Windows registry to remove Acronis SnapAPI drivers

Solution

  • Windows 98/ME

    • Run regedit (Start -> Run -> regedit) and delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\snaphlp
    • Delete the following keys:

      • WINDOWS\system\iosubsys\snapman.vxd
      • WINDOWS\system\snaphlp.vxd
      • WINDOWS\system\SnapAPI.dll
  • Windows NT 4.0

    • Delete snapman key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
  • Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista

    • Delete snapman key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
    • Delete snapman string (only snapman string, do not touch other items) from:

      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} -> UpperFilters
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F} -> UpperFilters

More information

(!) If you are using an NT-based Windows operating system (Windows NT 4.0 and higher), do not delete the driver files (SnapAPI.dll, Snapman.sys) manually. This will make the system unbootable even with the "Last Known Good Configuration" option.
