Federal Solutions

Acronis® is your organization’s gateway to powerful solutions for agencies that care about bare-metal recovery, system deployment, system management functions and continuity planning within Windows® and Linux® environments.

Agency IT operations throughout the Federal sphere rely on Acronis software to move, manage and maintain vital information. This information includes more than data — it’s all digital assets such as operating systems, databases, applications, configuration settings and files.

Acronis® delivers comprehensive, reliable, and cost-effective backup and recovery, disk restore, and system migration products for your entire IT infrastructure using patented snapshot technology. The Acronis line of products works seamlessly with both physical and virtual servers, as well as workstations.

The Acronis solutions can backup and restore systems from routine failures, speed up migration projects and respond quickly to both virus attacks and natural or man-made disasters. Our award-winning solutions work seamlessly in both physical and virtual environments, giving you the tools you need to reach your COOP and COG mandates.

Two important questions to ask:

When disaster strikes, is your organization prepared to quickly restore your servers, workstations, or PC’s to a fully operational state?
Can you quickly resume operations to continue productivity anywhere in the world?

Disaster Recovery

When disaster strikes, getting your organization’s servers up and running again is crucial. Traditionally, this forces the IT organization to rebuild a server from scratch: loading the OS, the applications, all of the user data, printer drivers, etc. This process is not only prone to mistakes, but can take days to accomplish. Meanwhile users are left without access to the information they need to make sound decisions.

With the use of Acronis’ proven backup and restore tools like Acronis True Image, bringing up the new server can be as simple as pointing to an image of the old server and restoring the entire system. The image will restore the OS, applications, and all of the user data (maintaining the integrity of all of the folders, logins, etc.) with a single request. This can reduce the amount of time to recover a system from days to hours.

Data Center Migrations

Has your organization outgrown its Data Center? Is the Data Center running on a rapidly aging server? Is your organization consolidating servers to a virtual environment? Looking to cut costs by reducing the number of servers? Or do you need to physically move a server to another location?

Much like a disaster recovery scenario, migrating data centers requires the IT staff to rebuild the servers from scratch. Rebuilding the OS, applications, user data, printers, and drivers can be a cumbersome and time-consuming process which leaves users without access to their vital information for a longer length of time than they may be able to tolerate.

By using Acronis True Image to backup a server, migrations to new servers can be done very quickly. With the help of Acronis Universal Restore, a disk image can be restored on a new server in minutes, even if the new server is using a different hardware profile than the original server.

Bare Metal Installations

Hardware and servers wear-out and become obsolete over time, but the data housed on a server can be valid for years. When a new server is introduced into an environment, the use of Acronis True Image products to migrate or build the new server can reduce the amount of the time it would take to bring the new server online from days down to mere hours.

Acronis® True Image Echo™ allows you to create the exact server disk image for complete server backup and disk cloning, providing the industry’s fastest bare-metal server restore and dramatically reducing downtime and IT costs.

Using Acronis True Image Echo to take a backup image of a server, a bare metal restore becomes an even more reliable server backup and restore solution that ensures your server data safety better than ever.

Virtualization

Virtualization is a hot topic in the IT world today. Virtualization allows for a server to perform as multiple servers by sharing resources across multiple environments.

The Federal Government is quickly recognizing that server virtualization technology can simplify server management, reduce power consumption and total operating costs, thereby greatly contributing to Federal Green Data Center initiatives.

Acronis True Image Virtual Edition, used with Universal Restore, is the key to providing hardware portability, simplifying migration from physical to virtual servers (P2V), physical to physical servers (P2P), virtual to physical servers (V2P), virtual to virtual servers (V2V), and managing disaster recovery for the virtual or physical server environments.

Using Acronis True Image with Universal Restore to back up an entire system, the backup image can be moved as a single block of information to a new server, even if you are moving a physical server to a virtual one, or vice versa. By moving applications, files, folders or entire servers as an image between environments, restorations can be completed with minimal interruption to user productivity.

Continuity Planning

As recent catastrophic and large-scale disasters have shown, Federal government agencies must be accountable for recognizing, understanding, and managing emergencies. As the Federal Continuity Directive of November 6, 2007 states, "Continuity requirements must be incorporated into the daily operations of all agencies to ensure seamless and immediate continuation of Primary Mission Essential Function (PMEF) capabilities so that critical government functions and services remain available to the Nation’s citizens."

The Federal government depends a great deal on the continuous availability of IT resources to manage emergencies. Agencies are under increased pressure to define a cost-effective and fast-acting response mechanism, not only to maintain continuity of operation (COOP), but also to ensure Continuity of Government (COG).

When it comes to planning for continuity, a disk imaging product can provide a key solution. Acronis True Image delivers a comprehensive, reliable and cost-effective contribution to your ability to operate continuously, whether you face malfunctions, malware, and both natural and man-made disasters. Moreover, it works flawlessly in calmer situations, helping speed data center migrations, bare metal installations, and virtualization projects.
