Acronis statement on the Symantec acquisition of Powerquest

September 24, 2003, South San Francisco, CA — Acronis, Inc., the technological leader in systems software development, issued the following statement on the announcement Sept. 23, 2003 of Symantec Corp. acquiring PowerQuest Corp.

"The acquisition of PowerQuest by Symantec is good news for Acronis customers. First, it underscores the importance of the markets in which we compete with Symantec and PowerQuest — markets such as disk imaging, disaster recovery, systems management, and privacy. And second, by effectively taking out the Number 2 company in the market, Symantec is, in effect, raising the visibility of Acronis."

"Prior to the acquisition, reviewers already were bestowing kudos to Acronis for its product family. These developments bode well for us in that now there will be one fewer competitor. It should provide Acronis with greater visibility to customers looking for systems management products for the Windows and Linux environments."
