Acronis partners with MySQL for backup, disaster recovery
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF., February 28, 2005 Acronis, Inc., the technological leader in storage management solutions, announced that Acronis True Image has become the first MySQL Network certified solution for bare metal restore for database backup. In addition, MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open source database, has standardized on Acronis True Image for its own internal IT disaster recovery and bare-metal restore systems. "Acronis' partnership with MySQL offers unique value as Acronis True Image is the only bare-metal restore solution available for backing up mission critical MySQL databases on both Linux and Windows platforms", said Ethan O'Rafferty, MySQL's director of U.S. alliances. "Customers looking to reduce risk while implementing an open source software stack can use Acronis True Image for backup, which has been tested to be MySQL Network Certified".
"MySQL has employees distributed globally in 19 different countries many of whom do not have IT staff in their offices", said Kaj Arno, MySQL's vice president responsible for internal IT strategy and implementation. "For our internal corporate use, we needed a backup solution that was reliable and powerful, yet easy to use.
"We tested backup offerings from industry leaders including Acronis, and selected Acronis True Image based on its superior features, ease of use, and unique Linux and Windows platform support", Arno added. "It exceeded our expectations as a cost effective backup solution for protecting our systems against potential systems failures".
"Acronis recognizes that data is the fuel that energizes corporations", said Max Tsypliaev, CEO of Acronis. "Knowing that both MySQL AB and their database customers will be able to continue operating with minimal interruption is gratifying. Not only may MySQL Network customers use Acronis True Image for their database backup and disaster recovery needs, but MySQL AB uses it internally as well. Here's a company that recognizes that what's good for its customers is good for itself too".
