We know how sad it is but VMworld is over and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it.
Wait, actually, we can do at least one thing: stop and ask ourselves a question: Was VMworld 2013 the best VMworld ever?
If the answer is yes, you can be proud of yourself and of the preparations your great VMworld team did for the event. If the answer is no, you should probably ask yourself – what went wrong? Don't bother contemplating too hard, the answers are already here.
1. You didn't have a schedule
If you didn't use the official VMworld app or at least didn't write down some exciting sessions you wanted to go to in advance, then most likely VMworld ended up hectic and stressful for you. And this is quite understandable – with 8,000 people running around and trying to figure out what's happening right here and right now is not the best idea for VMworld. Because there is always A LOT happening and always very little time. Next VMworld make sure to plan ahead. And if you do so, you can finally relax and enjoy whatever is happening.
2. You didn't go to any parties
Basically, there are two options. Option A – you didn't go to any parties, which is sad because every night something special was happening. Parties generally are not just good for drinking alcohol and eating weird stuff, but the really good parties are best for meeting new people, clients, partners and networking. Option B – you ended up at the wrong party. So picture this, you come to the party and then you realize that everything is absolutely wrong here: music is bad, drinks are bad, location is terrible. But you decide to stay anyway – because, well, where else is there to go?
However, if you had researched beforehand, you'd definitely know that the Best Party at VMworld was happening on Tuesday Oct. 15 when Acronis treated the most awesome people at VMworld with the Best Wine and the Best Cheese. Of course, we are a bit biased. The location was beautiful as well – right in the heart of warm and sunny Barcelona.
3. You didn't have fun
You might ask – what about those parties you've talked about? Were you left wanting more? If you feel this way, it means that you're forgetting that VMworld is not only about learning things, meeting people and doing business. VMworld is always about having fun. In different forms, of course, but fun is in its DNA. You could have fun not only at the parties, what about those great booths with various ‘funtivities’? If you didn't care to try any it means that next year you have to come back and experience it to the fullest.
