Acronis Cyber Protect has consistently achieved leading results in AV-TEST’s Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) evaluation. This year, the solution finally received the official certification badge during the same months it was included in the public certification test series. So, top score, perfect results again and the certification badge in a rigorous evaluation designed to simulate real-world cyberthreats, focusing on how security solutions handle sophisticated attacks.

The test was conducted in May and June 2025 on Windows 10 platforms — the OS is still widely used by businesses and consumers — and assessed 20 security products, including 12 for corporate endpoints like ours.

Test setup and process

The setup involved 10 live attack scenarios, each initiated via a spear-phishing email. These emails contained archived malicious files, either executable EXE files or .LNK links with hidden malware code. Attacks often escalated using tools like PowerShell to deploy payloads.

Every step of the defense was meticulously documented using the MITRE ATT&CK framework, which standardizes threat tactics and techniques (e.g., "T1566.001" for spear-phishing attachments). This ensured a transparent and logical evaluation, tracking whether products detected threats early or mitigated them in later stages.

The test zeroed in on two prevalent threats: ransomware and infostealers, with a total of five malware samples across both categories. Solutions were scored out of a maximum 35 points: three points per ransomware sample successfully blocked and four points per infostealer. Partial successes earned half points. To earn certification ("Advanced Approved Endpoint Protection" for corporate solutions), products needed at least 75% of the total points (26.5 or higher).

This methodology emphasizes not just detection but comprehensive protection against persistent attackers, mirroring the tactics used by real cybercriminals.
