Based in a picturesque village in the Southwest of France, Octime
Group develops solutions for human resources that help organizations optimize
performance.
The company employs 250 people and has operations in Spain,
Portugal and Latin America, as well as its primary business in France.
The challenge
Octime was using free solutions for backup and recovery that
didn’t meet the needs of a growing company. Octime has enjoyed double-digit
revenue growth for more than five years, and around the time Octime acquired
Spanish company aTurnos in 2022, the company began to explore more robust
alternatives for backup and recovery.
Octime needed to find a backup solution that for all its
global operations and not just its French business. However, budget was still
an issue, and Octime also needed a solution that was both powerful and cost effective.
But the biggest issue Octime faced was that after an
incident, data recovery simply took too long.
“Unfortunately, incidents happen,” says Mr. Samuel Jaume, who
leads the SaaS production team at Octime. “We had to recover data on some of
our servers, and the time it took just didn’t work for us. We weren’t able to
recover as quickly as we told our clients we could. We got complaints from
clients. We even lost a few clients because we couldn’t recover quickly enough.”
The solution
Mr. Jaume put together a list of three vendors based on
analyst firm Gartner’s magic quadrant. Acronis Cyber Protect stood out for a
few reasons. First, it offered a vulnerability scan that other solutions didn’t
offer.
Acronis Cyber Protect also fit Octime’s budget in moving
from a free to paid solution. It wasn’t too expensive. And ultimately, Acronis delivered
faster recovery time than the two other vendors during testing.
“Acronis Cyber Protect had technical and financial
advantages that made it stand out,” Mr. Jaume says. “The security aspect with
vulnerability scans marked made Acronis the leading choice. And even though the
other vendors were able to perform backup and recovery, Acronis did it faster.”
Octime implemented Acronis Cyber Protect in 2023 to protect
about 650 servers, the company’s entire global operation.
“The security aspect with vulnerability scans marked made Acronis the leading choice. And even though the other vendors were able to perform backup and recovery, Acronis did it faster.”
The result
Octime hasn’t suffered any large incidents but has had a few
small occasions to recover data since implementing Acronis Cyber Protect. The
company has found that the solution performs quickly and reliably. Data
recovery is now 40% faster than previously, Mr. Jaume says, and the company no
longer has any issues with clients related to data recovery.
Acronis Cyber Protect has also proven to be easy to use. Mr.
Jaume has two administrators capable of managing backup and recovery, but he
says it’s only a half-time job for one employee. And deploying the Acronis
backup and recovery solution was easy, Jaune adds. In fact, he says he spent
less time deploying Acronis Cyber Protect than he did setting up the company’s
previous backup solution.
“We believe the Acronis solution can help us recover in case
of a major problem,” Jaune says. “All we have to do is have someone
occasionally check that everything is OK. Since we got up and running with
Acronis Cyber Protect, we haven’t had any problems.”
