Creating bootable rescue media

You can run Acronis True Image 2018 from a bootable media on a bare-metal system or a crashed computer that cannot boot. You can even back up disks on a non-Windows computer, copying all its data into the backup by imaging the disk in the sector-by-sector mode. To do so, you need bootable media that has a copy of the standalone Acronis True Image 2018 version installed on it.

How you can obtain bootable media:

• Use the installation CD, DVD, or USB flash drive of the boxed product.
• Make a media bootable with Acronis Media Builder:
  • Blank CD
  • Blank DVD
  • USB flash drive

    Note: The data it may contain will not be modified.

  • Create an .iso image file to burn it afterwards onto a CD or DVD.
  • Create WinPE-based media with the Acronis plug-in.
  • Create WinRE-based media with the Acronis plug-in.
• Download an .iso image file (about 650 MB) from the Acronis website:
  1. Go to https://account.acronis.com/, and then log in to your Acronis account.
  2. In the Products section, find Acronis True Image, then click Downloads, and then click Bootable Media.

     When the file is downloaded, burn it onto a CD or DVD.
