Acronis – Scuderia Toro Rosso partnership powers on! Three years ago Scuderia Toro Rosso supported the opening of Acronis International Headquarters in Singapore as guests. This week, the drivers and the team’s IT key members joined the celebration as partners, celebrating Acronis’ Singaporean origin and demonstrating the benefits of using Acronis’ technology in motor racing.
Why Singapore? Because the company was founded there! Back in 2003, a group of local software engineers had a vision to develop innovative technology to protect all data, in an easy way. What followed, was the world’s first full-image backup, baremetal restore, online backup, and many other features that have become the foundation of the modern backup as we know it today.
With its Corporate HQ in Schaffhausen, Switzerland and International HQ to Singapore, Acronis is now the largest Singaporean software and internet services company operating in the global market, and the first Singaporean company to sponsor a Formula 1 Team.
Since returning its International HQ to Singapore in 2014, Acronis set up a global R&D center and developed strategic partnerships with local universities, research organizations, and became a founding member of the Cybersecurity Consortium. With the support of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), Acronis participates in joint projects with the Data Storage Institute and NTU.
Technologies developed in Singapore continue to drive the company’s success. In the last year alone, Acronis True Image business increased by 20%, Acronis Backup by 25% and Acronis Access business by over 200% as of September 2017. Acronis Backup Cloud, innovative Backup-as-a-Service for service providers also continues to grow at a rate of more than 100% a year, accompanied by a 350% growth in the number of protected devices and 400% growth of data stored in the Acronis Cloud. Any person and organization of any size, in any industry, in any geography can benefit from Acronis products.
Looking ahead, Acronis plans to invest $10m in AI research projects, add more than 100 new staff, apply for more than 100 new patents and continue to form strategic partnerships.
Acronis – Scuderia Toro Rosso partnership
In July last year, Acronis formed a new partnership with the Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula 1 Team. Technology, performance, and innovation linked the two companies together. On Wednesday this week, the drivers and Toro Rosso’s IT key members, had a chance to give the first-hand account of the real benefits of using Acronis technology in motorsport.
Raffaele Boschetti, Scuderia Toro Rosso Head of IT, who attended the event with Acronis’ partners and international media on Wednesday, praised the security and functionality offered by Acronis Access Advanced, a secure file sync&share solution that the company started using this year.
“With Acronis Access Advanced, we’re in full control of our data. We can track the information path and even remote-wipe a laptop, tablet or mobile device if it is lost or stolen to prevent a competitor from accessing the data. Our plan is to share all data that way,” Boschetti said.

But it wasn’t all serious stuff! Acronis guests were entertained by a humanoid robot with an Artificial Intelligence chip, who asked some tricky questions in its attempt to hold a conversation with the Formula 1 drivers Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat!

Following the Wednesday celebrations at the office, Acronis guests and partners had a chance to visit the Scuderia Toro Rosso garage and witness the drivers in action. This is the most technologically advanced data-driven sport, and Acronis plays an important part keeping the data safe.
