Survey

Exploring the MSP managed security survey resultsWe recently shared our excitement about a new research study we commissioned that looked at the trends in managed security and backup among MSPs. That blog provided an overview of the survey’s methodology and a few preliminary data points. In this blog, we will dive into the first main section of the survey which looked at security, and we will discuss how the findings relate to the benefits provided by Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud.

Here's what our Cyber Protection Week survey results mean for personal users

As the inaugural World Cyber Protection Week starts to wind down, we’re taking a deeper look at our survey results to explore what they really have to say about personal, home users and how you can use these insights to keep yourself safer in the year ahead.

Learn how people around the world are protecting their increasingly digital lives and confronting the modern cyberthreats attacking their data, applications, and systems.

Has you business experienced data loss resulting in downtime this year?

This year’s World Cyber Protection Week survey results offer a wealth of insight into how individuals and IT professionals are approaching the challenges of increasing complexity, cost, and vulnerability. And while there’s a great deal personal users, IT professionals, and service providers can learn from these survey findings, viewing them in a silo ignores some important, broader context.

To offer a clearer picture of what this year’s survey means, we’ve compared our 2020 findings with responses from personal users and IT professionals in all of our previous survey iterations. This comparison presents a robust perspective of how data-defense priorities have evolved over time, and how cyber protection’s modern, comprehensive approach to safeguarding data, applications, and systems is poised to become even more necessary in the months and years ahead.

This year's World Cyber Protection Week survey results are in

This World Cyber Protection Week, we expanded our annual data protection survey to cover more of the digital challenges and concerns that face modern IT users – whether they’re at home, at work, or relying on a service provider that protects a portfolio of clients.

This year’s results paint a clear picture: People and organizations are acutely aware of the risks on the horizon but they are much less certain about how to easily, efficiently, and securely prepare for and overcome them. Let’s dive into the findings of our 2020 survey.

Trends from Four Years of Acronis World Backup Day Survey

Every year Acronis celebrates World Backup Day with special deals, discussions, and global surveys of data protection habits, experiences, and concerns. While these celebrations evolve year-to-year to reflect the changing landscape of cyber protection, Acronis’ World Backup Day Survey includes many points that are tracked each year.

Responses to these annual questions offer a fascinating look into how consumers have valued and protected what matters on their devices over time.

World Backup Day 2019 Survey Results

As World Backup Day 2019 approaches this Sunday, the results of Acronis’ global annual survey regarding the public’s knowledge and habits of data protection are in – and with 65 percent of consumers reporting data loss by themselves or their family members, it looks like 2018 was a particularly dangerous year.

In addition, as CEOs and other C-level executives increasingly lose their jobs following data incidents, the 2019 survey also marked the first time we’ve polled business professionals regarding their knowledge and data protection habits as well.

The findings of this year’s World Backup Day Survey reveal some notable contradictions between consumer beliefs and practical choices, as well as an interesting contrast between the value people and businesses place on their data’s value and the steps they take to protect it.

Global Data Protection Survey 2018

2018 Global Data Protection Survey

As a global leader in cyber protection and hybrid cloud storage, Acronis frequently conducts surveys of online consumers to gauge awareness of data threats and habits of data protection among everyday people. This year’s annual Global Data Protection Survey, which polled members of the general internet population from the U.S., U.K., Australia, Japan, Germany, France, Spain and Singapore during August 2018, revealed some disconcerting trends.

Acronis Consumer Survey Exposed the Need for Effective Defense Against Ransomware

A survey conducted by Acronis in December 2016 exposed the lack of awareness and understanding of the imminent danger presented by ransomware  — an increasingly-pervasive form of malware that encrypts the victim’s files, denying access to them until the user pays an online ransom of hundreds or thousands of dollars. Respondents placed high value on personal data, but were not prepared to pay any ransom in case of an attack.

The survey revealed that while 71 percent of the respondents worry about the safety of their personal data and 41 percent say they cannot afford to lose any of it, 56 percent have no plan for recovering that data if it is lost or held hostage by cyber criminals.
