As the end of March approaches, it means World Backup Day is near – the annual reminder that if we don’t want to look the fool after data loss, we need to create secure backups.

Acronis conducts a global consumer survey each year leading up to the World Backup Day celebration, to gauge the attitudes, habits and knowledge of the general public. The findings were both eye-opening and contradictory.

Virtual machines keep you on the safe side and protect your Mac. Nevertheless, VMs are very similar to real computers in that they are vulnerable to the same risks: data loss, hard disk corruption, malware, and power outage. Creating VM backups on a regular basis keeps your work and data safe.

The closer we get to the end of March, the more you’re going to hear about World Backup Day. Falling on the last day of the month, March 31, World Backup Day raises awareness and educates tech users about computer backup and data protection. Acronis, a global leader in hybrid cloud data protection and storage, recently completed a consumer backup survey in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Germany, France, and Japan. The results were revealing, beginning with the finding that most users are completely unaware of the threat posed by ransomware attacks, much less how to prepare for them.
