Conti ransomware attack puts call centers on hold

GSS, one of Europe's largest customer care and call center providers, has been hit by Conti ransomware. Iconic wedding dress designer Vera Wang Group also fell victim to a similar attack.

Currently, there is no information about how much data was stolen from either company, nor the value of the demanded ransom. Given the large revenues of each — Vera Wang Group's is estimated at  $10-$50 million — the attackers will likely be seeking a high sum.

Conti's leak site lists Vera Wang Group as a confirmed victim. While GSS is not listed on this site, a spokesperson for the company has confirmed that Conti is responsible for the attack.

Conti ransomware first appeared sometime in May 2020, and the group continues to pull off successful extortions. Acronis Cyber Protect's Active Protection capabilities detect and block Conti — as well as other modern ransomware variants, known and unknown — before they can harm your data and systems.
