Upgrading Acronis True Image

When an update for Acronis True Image is available at the Acronis website, you can download it. If you currently have Acronis True Image 2017 or later, the new version will simply update it; there is no need to remove the old version and reinstall the software.

If your current version is older than 2017, we recommend that you remove the current version first.

Please note that uninstalling the previous version will remove all product settings and configuration.

Before uninstalling, we recommend that you review your backup settings, such as backup destinations, schedules, and encryption options. Saving screenshots or writing down important settings can help you quickly reconfigure the product after installing the new version.

Your backups created with a previous version of Acronis True Image are completely compatible with the newer product version. After you upgrade, all of your backups will automatically be added to your backup list.

The backups created by a more recent program version may be incompatible with previous program versions. If you roll back Acronis True Image to a previous version, you likely will have to re-create the backups using the older version. We strongly recommend that you create new bootable media after each Acronis True Image upgrade.

Acronis True Image is available only as a subscription. Purchasing a subscription gives you access to all features, updates, and technical support for the duration of your subscription period.

To purchase a subscription or to upgrade to a more advanced type of subscription to Acronis True Image

  1. Start Acronis True Image.
  2. On the sidebar, click Account, and then click Buy full version. The built-in store opens.
  3. Select the license that you want to buy, the number of devices you want to protect, and then click Buy now.
  4. Review your order, select additional services, if needed, provide your payment information, and then click Buy now.

To update Acronis True Image

  1. Start Acronis True Image.

  2. On the sidebar, click Account.

    If there is a new version available, you will see the appropriate message next to the current build number.

  3. Click Download and install.

    Before you start downloading, make sure that your firewall won't block the download process.

  4. When the new version is downloaded, click Install now.

To check for updates automatically, go to the Settings tab, and then select the Automatically check for updates at startup check box.

In-app store

Acronis True Image provides an in-app store. Using this store, you can:

  • Purchase a Acronis True Image subscription after using the trial version.
  • Upgrade your subscription plan (for example, from Essentials to Advanced or Premium).
  • Add more protected devices to your subscription.
  • Buy additional storage space on Acronis Cloud.

To access the in-app store, go to the Account tab, and then click Acronis Store. The in-app store opens with all available purchase options.
