Direct Backup to Microsoft 365 Backup Storage

Direct Backup to Microsoft 365 Backup Storage provides frequent backups, fast recovery, and simplified backup plans.

Backups are taken every 10 minutes and never leave the Microsoft 365 data trust boundary, because they are kept in Microsoft 365 Backup Storage.

Direct Backup to Microsoft 365 Backup Storage is available for the following types of data:

• Exchange mailboxes

  All backups are available for recovery for one year.

• OneDrive accounts

  The retention period is one year, with trailing two weeks of frequent backups – during the most recent two weeks, all backups are available for recovery. From day 15 until the end of the one-year period, a weekly backup is available for recovery.

• SharePoint sites

  The retention period is one year, with trailing two weeks of frequent backups – during the most recent two weeks, all backups are available for recovery. From day 15 until the end of the one-year period, a weekly backup is available for recovery.
