Gridheart and Acronis Cyber Foundation empower students with new resource center in Kenya

On November 28, 2025, Friends Secondary School Kibisi in Namboko, Kenya, celebrated a milestone that will shape the future of its students. Through the collaborative efforts of the Acronis Cyber Foundation ProgramGridheart and a coalition of Nordic technology partners, the school opened a new resource center. This achievement highlights the impact of partnership and shared vision. 

Building opportunity through partnership 

Friends Secondary School Kibisi, which serves 1,200 students, has faced challenges due to limited infrastructure and resources. Recognizing the need for improved learning facilities, Acronis and its partners, Gridheart, AlmomBloxITComplete SolutionsDesknet DatateknikGibonMirvaIntime ITIT-verketThalamus, Torntec and Sölvesborg Data, joined forces to make a lasting difference. 

Major funding for the project came from Acronis and Gridheart, with additional support from the other partners. This collaboration reflects a shared belief in the power of education and the importance of giving back to communities. 

A center designed for growth 

More than a building, the new resource center is a hub for opportunity and inspiration for the Namboko community. The facility includes a computer classroom to equip students with digital skills, a library to foster a love of reading and a multi-purpose hall for school gatherings and community events. 

With these resources, Friends Secondary School Kibisi is better positioned to nurture the talents and ambitions of its students. 

A festive opening and global impact 

The opening ceremony was memorable occasion attended by representatives from Acronis, including one Foundation representative and three Foundation Ambassadors from the United States, Japan and Germany, as well as Gridheart. Together with students, teachers and community members, they celebrated a dream realized that will benefit the community for years to come. 

Making a difference together 

This project shows what is possible when organizations unite around a common goal. By investing in education, the Acronis Cyber Foundation Program, Gridheart and their Nordic partners have created new opportunities for the youth of Namboko. As the resource center opens its doors, it marks not just the completion of a building but the beginning of new journeys for the students attending Friends Secondary School Kibisi.
