We are looking for a Database Architect to join our mission of protecting the digital world.

Acronis operates a complex, large-scale data platform powering hundreds of services worldwide. Our technology stack includes highly available clustered relational (PostgreSQL, MariaDB), NoSQL (Cassandra), time-series, and vector databases, operating under extremely high load.

In this role, you will play a key part in evolving database architecture and operational processes to ensure scalable, automated, and reliable data processing across company services and global datacenters. You will also contribute to data quality initiatives and the adoption of AI-driven and analytics-oriented data solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design and evolve database architecture across Acronis cloud products, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance

  • Define and promote best practices for relational, NoSQL, time-series, and vector databases across different workloads

  • Design and review data migration approaches, ensuring data integrity, security, and minimal service impact

  • Contribute to database automation initiatives in collaboration with Database DevOps and Infrastructure teams

  • Participate in data quality initiatives across multiple systems, improving consistency and correctness of data

  • Work closely with engineering teams on database design decisions, performance optimization, and complex data issues

  • Support adoption of AI-driven and analytics-oriented data solutions

  • Provide architectural reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing across teams

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 5+ years of experience working with production databases in complex environments

  • Strong expertise in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MariaDB/MySQL) and solid understanding of database architecture principles

  • Experience with performance optimization, scalability patterns, and data modeling

  • Hands-on experience with database migrations and schema evolution in production systems

  • Understanding of high availability, backup, monitoring, and recovery concepts

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and DevOps teams

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication skills

WILL BE A PLUS

  • Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra) or distributed data systems

  • Exposure to time-series and/or vector databases

  • Experience with data quality, reconciliation, or cross-system consistency projects

  • Familiarity with search and indexing technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch or similar)

  • Kubernetes experience (including databases running on Kubernetes)

  • Experience with public cloud DBaaS platforms (GCP, Azure, or similar)

  • Programming or scripting experience (Python, Go)

  • Experience with automation tools or infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Ansible)

  • Experience working with Jira, Git, and Confluence

MORE ABOUT OUR TEAM

  • A team of database experts who value collaboration, share knowledge openly, care deeply about reliability and stability, and embrace change by solving complex challenges with unique solutions.

  • 1000+ database clusters globally (PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MariaDB as expertise)

  • IaC automation based on Ansible, integrated with CI/CD (Jenkins + Python tools)

  • Kubernetes adoption for both in-house tools and vendor-provided database images

  • Centralized observability stack: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK

  • Infrastructure fully operated in Acronis datacenters worldwide
