For MSPs and CSPs, choosing a Nutanix alternative is not only an HCI decision. The right platform must help providers launch IaaS faster, provide protection for every client VM, simplify tenant operations and turn infrastructure into a profitable recurring service. HCI alone doesn't make IaaS profitable — providers assemble workload protection, tenant management, billing and service operations around the platform before infrastructure becomes recurring revenue.

Business economics | Build a more profitable IaaS business with protected VMs by default, fewer separate service-layer tools and two monetization paths: resell Acronis-hosted IaaS through Cyber Frame Cloud or operate your own public cloud with Cyber Frame Local. | Nutanix can be effective for HCI and private cloud modernization, but provider economics depends on how the full service is built around the Nutanix stack, including protection, service operations, billing, support and utilization. |
Acronis-hosted IaaS resale path | Use Cyber Frame Cloud as an Acronis-hosted IaaS platform for MSPs that want a hyperscaler-like service model with better margin potential, more service control and built-in protection. | Nutanix Cloud Clusters extends Nutanix into public clouds, but providers still operate Nutanix clusters on cloud resources. It is not a vendor-hosted IaaS that partners can utilize without managing the underlying cloud stack. |
Provider-owned public cloud | Use Cyber Frame Local to build a multitenant public cloud on provider-owned or colocated infrastructure with tenant controls, partner branding and integrated cyber protection. | Nutanix can support provider-operated clouds, but the provider still must package the service model, tenant experience, protection stack and managed operations around the platform. |
All-in-one protected IaaS | Combine compute, storage, networking, multitenancy, self-service, backup, DR, security and RMM in one service-provider-ready offer. | Nutanix Cloud Platform combines HCI, virtualization, management, storage and networking, but full managed-service packaging often requires additional products, integrations and provider process design. |
Built-in cyber protection | Package every Cyber Frame VM with built-in backup, disaster recovery, anti-malware, anti-ransomware, EDR / XDR and RMM capabilities. | Nutanix includes strong infrastructure resilience, DR and security capabilities, but backup, endpoint security, recovery operations and RMM are not delivered as one default VM service layer. |
Cloud or Local deployment model | Start with Cloud when speed and no hardware investment matter, use Local when infrastructure ownership or sovereignty is strategic or run both under one Acronis service motion. | Nutanix supports on-premises, edge and public cloud scenarios, but providers typically design the resale, delivery and managed-service model around their chosen Nutanix deployment. |
Native multitenancy and multitier management | Cyber Frame is multitenant by default and supports a multitier service-provider hierarchy for partners, clients and groups. Providers can assign quotas, delegate access, meter usage and isolate tenants without adding a separate multitenancy product. | Nutanix supports multitenant service-provider scenarios through SP Central and related architecture. For IaaS delivery, providers still need to validate how tenant hierarchy, billing boundaries, self-service and governance map to their service model. |
Service-provider workflows | Connect IaaS delivery to Acronis Cyber Platform (formerly Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud), PSA-aligned billing workflows, RMM operations, usage visibility and provider-branded delivery. | Nutanix has partner and service-provider programs, but PSA / RMM alignment, service-desk process and recurring managed-service packaging are provider design responsibilities. |
OpenStack-compatible automation | Use OpenStack-compatible APIs and tools such as Terraform to automate VM, network and storage lifecycle management without proprietary stack dependency. | Nutanix offers APIs, automation and a KVM-based AHV option, but automation is built around the Nutanix management model rather than OpenStack-compatible IaaS delivery. |
Service providers evaluating Nutanix competitors can compare several Nutanix options, including Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure with AHV, Nutanix Cloud Platform, Nutanix Cloud Clusters, Nutanix Cloud Manager and Nutanix Unified Storage. Below is a practical overview of each option and how Acronis Cyber Frame compares.
