Vendor uses VMWorld Europe as platform to launch its Virtual Edition in EMEA
SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland, 18 February, 2009 - Acronis will debut its new model for backup and recovery solutions in virtual environments at this year's VMWorld Europe event (Cannes 24-26 February). Acronis True Image Virtual Edition will allow organisations to back up and recover virtual machines onto a single physical server and seamlessly migrate servers between physical and virtual environments.
Designed to keep budgeting for backup and recovery solutions in a virtual environment simple, the solution is cost-effective allowing organisations to backup, recover or test up to 99 virtual machines on a single, physical server at one price. There is no additional charge for backing up new virtual machines.
Because many vendors charge a licensing fee for each operating system, processor, or virtual server it can become extremely expensive for an organisation to build, test, migrate and manage a virtual machine infrastructure. Laurent Dedenis, Vice President, Acronis EMEA explains:
"This move marks Acronis' commitment to provide clarity to organisations who acknowledge the need to backup in a virtual world, but may be put off by the complexity and cost of the licensing structure associated with introducing a business continuity strategy in a virtual environment."
He continued: "The simplicity of this structure makes it ideal for SMBs who may have limited experience of working in a virtual environment. However, it's equally as suitable for larger companies who manage a high volume virtual machine environment. Quite simply, the more virtual machines created on a host, the lower the price per virtual machine."
