IT Managers surveyed by Acronis indicate that nearly 50% have suffered from downtime
in the last six months
London, UK, 13 July, 2010 - Acronis, a leading provider of onsite and offsite backup, disaster recovery and security solutions, today announced that in a survey of IT managers conducted by Acronis*, nearly half (44%) have suffered from downtime in the last six months.
The findings also showed that IT managers are generally very efficient at testing their backup and recovery restores for their servers, with 80% having done so in the last six months. However, only 20% were 'extremely confident', that they could restore their servers, should a disaster occur.
The survey highlighted that nearly half (44%) of end users do not have the ability to recover to different hardware in the event of disaster using their existing product. David Blackman, general manager of Acronis Northern Europe, said: "Cash-strapped SMBs often don't have identical hardware sitting on standby in case their systems fail. If their hardware is unusable, they often need to order in an identical PC, laptop or server which can often take days leading to unnecessary downtime."
Acronis® Universal Restore™ is an additional option for Acronis® Backup & Recovery™ 10. The solution, allows you to recover server, laptop, or workstation images to dissimilar physical or virtual hardware regardless of make, model, or installed components.
*This survey was taken from a sample of 70 IT Managers in March 2010
