SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland, August 5th, 2015 - Data loss has been confirmed as the biggest threat to Britain's education sector by head teachers and senior education leaders; however the majority are not taking their own warning seriously .
Acronis, a global leader in data protection, is calling for all levels of the education sector to ensure that their data is properly protected from data loss and disasters.
Following a study of the education sector, 49 per cent of head teachers and senior education leaders stated data loss was the biggest threat to their organisations data; however a further 40 per cent confirmed they only use a hard drive to backup their data, highlighting that the sector is taking a risk with its data using obsolete data backup approaches and technology.
By only using a standard hard drive to back up their data, confidential documents, such as student details, health records and financial documents are all at risk of loss or security breaches.
Jeff Hart, Regional Sales Manager UK & Ireland, at Acronis says, "Education organisations, from primary to university, can benefit from taking a look at their current approach to backup and what steps they should take to ensure their data is secure."
With the majority of those surveyed stating their data has grown between 11 to 50 per cent in the last 12 months, this problem is only going to get bigger and leave British schools more at risk in the future.
