Mevis is an Italian manufacturer of precision metal components for automotive, truck appliances and electronics.

With six manufacturing sites spanning Italy, Slovakia and China, the company needed a reliable way to back up and protect diverse production systems while reducing operational complexity and downtime.

KEY CHALLENGES:

  • Manual disk cloning required machines to be shut down and disassembled.
  • Older production systems could fail after maintenance.
  • Multiple machine types and operating systems complicated backup management.
  • An OT team located in Italy needed to protect plants in three countries.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • A single backup platform for all production machines across all sites.
  • Reliable backup and recovery that doesn’t disrupt production.
  • Support for legacy and modern Windows operating systems.
  • Centralized management that could scale globally.

THE SOLUTION

Mevis deployed Acronis Cyber Protect for OT in early 2026 to replace manual disk cloning with centralized, automated backup and recovery. Backups now run during production without equipment shutdowns, while a single management console enables the OT team in Italy to protect and monitor machines across multiple sites. The company has deployed Acronis on 50 production machines and plans to expand to all six plants.

THE IMPACT

  • Minimized downtime by eliminating the need to take machines offline for backups.
  • Increased backup frequency from once a year to once a week.
  • Added daily backups of production data.
  • Simplified management with a single platform.
  • Helped support compliance with the NIS 2 directive.
  • Created a standardized backup strategy for global expansion.
