Changing a user sign-in method

When you change the sign-in method of a user to an IdP, you can no longer reset the user password, because their password will be controlled by the IdP.

If a tenant has one or more Identity Provider (IdP) integrations activated (for example, Microsoft EntraID or Okta), then you can change the sign-in method specified for individual users on that tenant.

Prerequisites

The user tenant must have one or more Identity Provider (IdP) integrations activated (for example, Microsoft EntraID or Okta).

If you are unsure whether or not the tenant has an IdP integration activated, open the tenant user list, and look for the Sign-in method column. If the column is not displayed, then no IdP integration has been activated, and you cannot change user sign-in methods for this tenant.

To change a user sign-in method

  1. Navigate to the tenant.

  2. Go to My Company > Users.

    The user list appears.

From here, there are two options:

Option 1

  1. Hover over the user and click the ellipsis icon in the Name column.

  2. Select Change Sign-in Method.

A dialog appears with the available options.

  3. Select the desired sign-in method radio button.

  4. Click Change.

Option 2

  1. Select the user.

    The user details side-panel opens.

  2. Select the General information tab.

  3. Click the pencil icon.

  4. Select the desired option from the Sign-in method dropdown list.

  5. Click Done.
