Data sources

A data source is a set of data that a widget displays. When you create a custom widget, you select a data source, and then you select how to display its data.

Data source categories

Data sources are grouped in the following categories:

• Backup & Protection – backup status, protection maps, and data protection.
• Finance & Billing – revenue, profitability, expenses, and billing.
• Monitoring & Analytics – alerts, activities, assets, and general monitoring.
• Patch Management – patch installation, updates, and software inventory.
• Security – threat detection, vulnerabilities, and incident response.
• Service Desk – tickets, SLA, NPS, and customer support metrics.

Each category shows the number of data sources that it contains. Expand a category to see the data sources and their descriptions.

A widget uses the data of one data source. You cannot combine data from different data sources in one widget. To see the table of the data source that a widget uses, click View raw data in the widget editor.
