Managing the Cyber Frame virtual appliance
The virtual appliance is deployed automatically by Cyber Protect Cloud for each customer account that has Cyber Frame enabled. It provides agentless backup for all virtual machines in the project. You cannot delete the virtual appliance, but you can perform the following management actions.
Managing the virtual appliance
Viewing appliance details
- [For partner administrators] In the Cyber Protect console, select a customer in the tenant selector.
- In the Cyber Protect console, go to Settings > Agents.
- Click the virtual appliance name to open its details panel.
-
In the details panel, review the appliance configuration, including:
- Agent version
- Registration user
- Connection status
Updating the agent
- [For partner administrators] In the Cyber Protect console, select a customer in the tenant selector.
- In the Cyber Protect console, go to Settings > Agents.
- Click the virtual appliance name to open its details panel.
- Click Update agent.
Changing registration user
The virtual appliance is registered under an auto-generated user account. If you need the appliance to access backup archives created by a different user – for example, when the appliance performs a migration through Convert to VM plan – you can change the registration user.
- [For partner administrators] In the Cyber Protect console, select a customer in the tenant selector.
- In the Cyber Protect console, go to Settings > Agents.
- Click the virtual appliance name to open its details panel.
- In the User section, click Edit.
-
Select the user account under which you want to register the appliance.
After you change the registration user, the appliance will only have access to backup archives that are owned by the new user. Ensure that the selected user has access to all required archives before changing the registration.
- Click Done.
