Selecting system state

System state backup is available for machines that run Windows 7 or later and on which Agent for Windows is installed. System state backup is not available for machines that run Windows 11, and for virtual machines that are backed up at the hypervisor level (agentless backup).

A system state backup is comprised of the following files:

Task scheduler configuration
VSS Metadata Store
Performance counter configuration information
MSSearch Service
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)
The registry
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
Component Services Class registration database
