Simplified protection for a Microsoft 365 organization

This topic applies to Microsoft 365 Business – Backup. With Direct Backup to Microsoft Backup Storage, this functionality is not available.

When you add a Microsoft 365 organization by using the Microsoft 365 Business – Backup solution, the Configure protection wizard opens automatically. In this wizard, you can configure backup for your entire Microsoft 365 organization from a single place, instead of creating multiple backup plans individually for each type of resource.

The wizard supports two backup modes:

Back up entire Microsoft 365 organization (recommended) – Protects all resource types in the organization, including user mailboxes, OneDrive accounts, group mailboxes, group sites, site collections, Microsoft Teams, and public folders.
Back up selected resources – Allows you to select specific resource types to protect. You can choose any combination of the following: user mailboxes, OneDrive accounts, group mailboxes, group sites, site collections, Microsoft Teams, and public folders.

In both modes, Cyber Protect Cloud automatically creates and applies the necessary backup plans to dynamic groups that cover the selected resources. You do not need to configure each backup plan individually.

If you select Back up selected resources, Cyber Protect Cloud creates only the plans that correspond to the resource types you selected.

Encryption is mandatory. You must specify an encryption password before the backup plans can be applied. The encryption algorithm is AES-256.
