## Frequently Asked Questions

### How does Acronis use AI in its products and services?

Acronis has used AI and machine learning for years across cyber protection. Active Protection uses behavior-based AI to detect and stop ransomware in real time. Our EDR, XDR, and MDR services use ML to surface threats and cut alert noise. Email Security and DLP use AI to classify content and intent. More recently, generative AI helps service providers configure policies, investigate incidents, and respond to customer requests faster.

AI-powered features are clearly marked in the product UI with a dedicated icon.

### How do you use generative AI?

We use generative AI to make Acronis Cyber Platform (formerly Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud) easier to operate. Service provider technicians can ask questions in natural language, get policy recommendations, and accelerate incident response without leaving the console. We also offer GenAI Protection, a dedicated product that helps customers secure the data flowing into and out of their own generative AI applications.

### What ethical principles guide Acronis's development and use of AI?

Our internal program are being aligned with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001, and the EU AI Act. Every AI feature goes through a structured review covering data sources, model behavior, bias, security, and explainability before it ships. Continuous monitoring catches drift and unintended behavior in production.

### What data do you collect to train generative AI models?

We do not train shared foundation models on customer data. Acronis uses a mix of pre-trained large language models from established providers and our own specialized models for cyber protection tasks. Where customer data is needed for an AI feature to work, it stays inside the customer's tenant boundaries and is not used to improve models for other customers. Human review covers anonymization where it applies.

### Can I disable AI features in Acronis products?

Service providers keep full control over which capabilities are exposed to their customers, and they can disable features with AI capabilities.

## Principles for Responsible AI

Acronis builds AI into cyber protection with safety, transparency, and customer control at the core.

Acronis has used machine learning and AI for years to stop ransomware, classify threats, and cut manual work for service providers. As generative AI expands what's possible, our approach stays the same: deploy carefully, prove value, and never compromise the data trust our customers count on.

We're a cyber protection company first. AI is how we make that protection faster, sharper, and easier to operate, not a separate story.

## Principles that shape our approach to AI

Six principles guide how we design, build, and ship AI across Acronis Cyber Platform (formerly Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud), GenAI Protection, and the wider product portfolio.

### Reliability, safety, and control

Every AI feature is tested the same way the rest of our platform is: rigorously, continuously, and against adversarial conditions. Quality gates, security reviews, and production monitoring keep behavior predictable as data and threats evolve.

### Transparency and explainability

When AI drives a recommendation or a detection, we explain why. Acronis surfaces the signals behind the decision, links to source data where applicable, and documents how each AI feature works so service providers and end customers can review and audit outputs.

### Fairness and bias mitigation

Models are evaluated for unintended bias before release and on an ongoing basis. We use diverse training and evaluation data, document known limitations, and update models when issues surface. The goal is AI that performs consistently across regions, customer sizes, and verticals.

### Human-centered design

AI assists people, it doesn't replace them. Consequential actions, recovery decisions, policy changes, customer communication, stay in human hands. Where automation runs unattended, such as ransomware containment in Active Protection, actions are scoped, reversible, and fully logged.

### Data privacy and security

Acronis AI features run inside Acronis Cyber Platform (formerly Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud) and inherit the platform's full security model: industry standard encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access control, multi-tenant isolation, and our standard compliance posture. Customer data is not used to train shared foundation models.

Every AI feature ships through a Secure Software Development Lifecycle that includes AI model-specific controls and guardrails.

### Accountability and governance

Acronis runs a formal AI governance program with risk and impact assessments before launch and periodic reviews after. We are aligning our practices against the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001, and the EU AI Act, and we publish updates as the program matures.

## AI inside Acronis Cyber Platform

Our AI capabilities are built into the platform service providers and businesses already use, not bolted on as a separate product. From AI-driven ransomware detection in Active Protection to GenAI Protection for securing customer generative AI workloads, every feature is governed by the principles above.
