Principles that shape our approach to AI

Six principles guide how we design, build, and ship AI across Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, GenAI Protection, and the wider product portfolio.

  • Reliability, safety, and control

    Reliability, safety, and control

Every AI feature is tested the same way the rest of our platform is: rigorously, continuously, and against adversarial conditions. Quality gates, security reviews, and production monitoring keep behavior predictable as data and threats evolve.
  • Transparency and explainability

    Transparency and explainability

When AI drives a recommendation or a detection, we explain why. Acronis surfaces the signals behind the decision, links to source data where applicable, and documents how each AI feature works so service providers and end customers can review and audit outputs.
  • Fairness and bias mitigation

    Fairness and bias mitigation

Models are evaluated for unintended bias before release and on an ongoing basis. We use diverse training and evaluation data, document known limitations, and update models when issues surface. The goal is AI that performs consistently across regions, customer sizes, and verticals.
  • Human-centered design

    Human-centered design

AI assists people, it doesn't replace them. Consequential actions, recovery decisions, policy changes, customer communication, stay in human hands. Where automation runs unattended, such as ransomware containment in Active Protection, actions are scoped, reversible, and fully logged.
  • Data privacy and security

    Data privacy and security

Acronis AI features run inside Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud and inherit the platform's full security model: industry standard encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access control, multi-tenant isolation, and our standard compliance posture. Customer data is not used to train shared foundation models.

Every AI feature ships through a Secure Software Development Lifecycle that includes AI model-specific controls and guardrails.

  • Accountability and governance

    Accountability and governance

Acronis runs a formal AI governance program with risk and impact assessments before launch and periodic reviews after. We are aligning our practices against the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, ISO/IEC 42001, and the EU AI Act, and we publish updates as the program matures.
