Acronis launches new disk management and partitioning solution

Acronis® Disk Director® 11 Home brings together popular disk management functions, partition recovery tools, and boot disk manager in one user-friendly package

Singapore, 22nd June 2010 - Acronis, a provider of easy-to-use backup, recovery and security solutions for physical, virtual and cloud environments, today announced the next generation of its disk management product, Acronis® Disk Director® 11 Home, designed to help home PC users organize their hard drives for better performance and data safety.

Acronis Disk Director 11 Home, the first in a line of new disk management tools to be launched from Acronis, puts powerful disk management tools in the hands of home users who can simply and safely carry out tasks like resizing, splitting and merging volumes.

The latest version of the product adds new features including:

  • Dynamic Disk support - enables volumes to be spread across multiple physical disks
  • The ability to add or manage mirror volumes, which helps make basic or simple volumes fault-tolerant in just one action by adding a mirror
  • Supports very large disks and allows creation of volumes over 2TB
  • The capability to clone a disk to a replacement hard disk without having to reinstall operating systems and applications
  • New user interface simplifies operations on disks and partitions
  • The new version also provides support for Windows 7 and 64-bit

In addition, it allows multiple operating systems to be installed on a single PC- keeping your system up-to-date with the latest Windows operating system while having the ability to run legacy applications on older operating systems.

Acronis Disk Director 11 Home can also be used to expand the capabilities of Acronis' popular Acronis True Image Home 2010 backup and recovery product - use Acronis Disk Director 11 Home to create two partitions on a PC, one for data and one for applications. Acronis True Image Home 2010 then only needs to back up the changes in the data partition, eliminating the need to back up the system partition again until you install new applications or apply new patches.

"This new version enhances many favorites found in previous releases of Acronis Disk Director while adding new features, like Windows 7 support, Dynamic Disk support and disk cloning to a replacement hard drive. Acronis Disk Director 11 Home is not only more valuable to the advanced user, but because it is easy to use, it's made these features more accessible to relative novices who can now take on tasks they once would have left to professionals," said Jason Donahue, Acronis CEO.

"The new UI is probably the cleanest and easiest interface to work with," writes beta tester Hal Abernethy from Salem, VA. "All options are at hand and self-explanatory Excellent design on the interface!"

Acronis Disk Director 11 Home runs on PCs equipped with a Windows-supported operating system (Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7), supporting FAT 16, FAT 32, NTFS, Ext2, Ext3, Reiser FS3 and Linux SWAP file systems.

Acronis Disk Director 11 Home is priced at USD49.99. Corporate versions of the solution for workstations and servers are scheduled to follow later this year. For business customers purchasing Acronis Disk Director Suite 10 after 15th June 2010, Acronis is offering a free upgrade to Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced Workstation until the product is released. The same is true for those purchasing Acronis Disk Director Server 10 after 15th June 2010 can also take advantage of a free upgrade to Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced Server until the product is released.
