Acronis Backup to Cloud

Overview

Are you doing everything you can to protect your critical data?

While local and tape backups offer essential protection against day-to-day dangers—deleted files, crashed servers, corrupt workstations—they cannot protect your business against threats to primary production equipment:

  • Fires and floods
  • Hurricanes and tornados
  • Pipes freezing and bursting
  • Power grid outages due to ice storms
  • Terrorist acts
  • Internal sabotage

For responsible backup & recovery, you need a “dual protection” strategy

Dual protection is the practice of boosting your local backup plan by adding an additional redundant offsite plan. By storing your backups both locally and offsite, you effectively double your protection and guarantee reliable access to your data in the event of a disaster.

By leveraging both local and offsite storage, you get the best of both worlds:

  • Local backups provide very quick, on-the-spot recovery
  • Local backups do not rely on internet connectivity to complete or recover
  • Remote backups are always available, even if your datacenter is not
  • Remote backups can be recovered to alternative locations quickly and easily

With a dual protection strategy, your data is always protected and always available when you need it.

Implementing dual protection effectively

Although there are several ways to design a dual protection strategy, the 3-2-1 rule produces the most effective, reliable results:

3 copies of your backup in 2 storage formats with 1 stored offsite

How the 3-2-1 rule works:

  1. Create 3 copies of your data (1 primary version and 2 backups).
  2. Store your copies in at least 2 types of storage media (local drive, network share / NAS, tape drive, etc.).
  3. Store 1 of these of copies offsite.

Sounds complicated? It doesn’t have to be!

All Acronis Backup and Acronis Backup Advanced products are designed to provide dual protection right out of the box. Because each product is fully integrated with Acronis’ secure cloud storage, you have the ability to automatically create and send additional copies offsite as part of your regular backup routine. The result? Full system backups and effective dual protection in one simple step—without the high price tag!
