Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE) is a minimal Windows system based on the Windows Vista, the Windows Server 2008, or the Windows 7 kernels. WinPE is commonly used by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and corporations for deployment, test, diagnostic and system repair purposes.
