VMware Converter Supports Acronis´ .TIB Format
BURLINGTON, Mass., January 15, 2008 - Acronis, Inc. (www.acronis.com/en-us/), today announced that organizations running virtualization software from VMware can now convert physical systems into virtual machines for backup and recovery using VMware Converter and the Acronis® True Image Echo family of disk imaging and backup software.
Support in VMware environments for Acronis True Image files means the system migration effort is simplified because existing Acronis image files can be easily converted directly into a virtual machine. Acronis True Image 9.x image (.TIB) files are supported by VMware Converter, which converts Microsoft Windows-based physical machines and third-party image formats to VMware virtual machines. It also converts virtual machines between VMware platforms.
"Our relationship with VMware continues to benefit our mutual customers," said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "When it comes to backup and restoration of their systems, IT managers do not want to think about what is physical and what is virtual. They just want to protect and migrate their data seamlessly between the two, which is enabled by Acronis True Image and VMware Converter."
