The 2020 MSP Cybersecurity Readiness Survey Results: Exploring Current and Planned Security Capabilities
We recently shared our excitement about a new research study we commissioned that looked at the trends in managed security and backup among MSPs. That blog provided an overview of the survey’s methodology and a few preliminary data points. In this blog, we will dive into the first main section of the survey which looked at security, and we will discuss how the findings relate to the benefits provided by Acronis Cyber Platform.

The Post-COVID Landscape for MSPs: A Chat with Forrester’s Jay McBain
I recently had a great conversation with Jay McBain, Principal Analyst for Channels and Partnerships at Forrester, about how the economic downturn caused by COVID-19 will affect the channel – specifically the MSP Channel. There was a lot of territory to cover: from looking at the current state of the channel to how many in the channel may (or may not) survive the economic hardship to examining the real opportunities the pandemic has created for MSPs. I’ll recap our conversation below and you can watch the full interview as well, but long story short: while many in the channel will struggle to survive, there are also tremendous opportunities ahead.

Cyber Protection Includes Predicting Disk Drive Failures with Acronis AI
While cyber protection is most frequently discussed in relation to managing and securing operating software, it can also involve managing the hardware that stores your valuable data – namely your disk drives. Because if your drive fails, any data stored on it can be lost forever. All hard drives will fail at some point. While this is particularly true of traditional, magnetic disk hard drives (a.k.a. hard disk drives or HDD), newer solid state drives (SSD) that use flash memory also face issues once their memory cells start to fail. Several factors can lead to errors in these data storage devices. For complete cyber protection, ensuring the stability and reliability of your drive is critical to safeguarding your data.

MSP Pioneer Answers the Question: Why Did You Join Acronis
As an MSP, I was always looking for better tools, tools that would ultimately help me deliver a higher level of service to my clients. As expensive as it is to change tools, if the benefits outweighed the pain of switching, I was all over it. Today, protecting your clients from cyberthreats has become a full-time job. Exploits are created every minute of every day, making it practically impossible for most IT service providers to keep pace to counter them all. Now more than ever, MSPs need modern tools to manage modern threats.

GigaOM’s Voices in Innovation Talks COVID-19 Impact with Gaidar Magdanurov
The 30-minute conversation focused on how the COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally changed the data protection and cybersecurity landscape, and what the long-term effects of the near-global lockdown will likely be. Naturally, there was a heavy focus on the cyber protection implications of the incredible shift to working from home.

Announcing the 2020 MSP Cybersecurity Readiness Survey Results
During the first quarter of 2020, Acronis commissioned Omdia (formerly Ovum) to conduct a survey of managed service providers (MSPs) to explore the trends in managed security and backup. The goal of the study was to get an up-to-date view on what cybersecurity and backup services are currently offered, what features matter most, what future plans they might have to expand their offerings, and what business, operational, and technical challenges make it harder for MSPs to execute. Naturally, we also wanted the perspective of MSPs and real data about the IT channel’s capabilities and concerns before launching Acronis Cyber Platform. It seems we’ve rolled out this new service just in time.

What You Need to Know About Remote Work: Encrypt Everything
One of the key elements of data protection is encryption. Users who regularly back up their files are familiar with the concept since Acronis always recommends to store data in an encrypted form. Doing so protects your data in transit to a local server or to the cloud, and it protects data when it is being stored on different media. If someone gains access to your file – either accidentally or maliciously – that person won't be able to read it or easily decrypt it if strong encryption algorithms like AES-256 are used.

Announcing the Integration of Atera’s Powerful PSA and RMM Suite for MSPs with Acronis Cyber Cloud
Managed service providers (MSPs) are busier than ever. They’re responsible for managing and protecting an ever-growing amount of data, applications, and systems for their clients in locations that span the data center to remote home offices. Historically, this level of automation and integration was not available or required complex project and development. That changed today when Acronis and Atera announced an integration of our popular MSP solutions.

Secure Your Work-From-Home Employees and Use Zoom More Safely with Acronis Cyber Protect
Barely a year ago, less than four percent of US workers operated mostly from home (per a Global Workspace Analytics survey, March 2019). Today, the swift global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has forced businesses overnight to transform to support a majority or near-entirety of remote work environments. Few companies were prepared to address the many new security risks arising from this sudden forced migration.

The Secret Shortcut to a Disaster Recovery as a Service Offering
Implementing a disaster recovery (DR) program used to be hard – from getting space in a co-location data center, to redeploying depreciated hardware, to dealing with dedicated black-box hardware. Through the magic of the cloud and sophisticated software that integrates backup and orchestrates failovers to cloud-based recovery machines for production, a DR offering has now become the simplest way to increase revenues and deepen client relationships. Enabling a fully-functional managed disaster recovery as a service program, leveraging existing client backup data, can be as easy as the flip of a switch.
