Omdia once again named Acronis a Champion in its Global Managed BDR Leadership Matrix for backup and disaster recovery. Acronis was one of only four vendors in 2026 to retain its Champion status from the previous edition of the matrix.
For managed service providers (MSPs), the honor provides recognition from an independent analyst firm of Acronis’ consistency, continued innovation and sustained commitment to partner success.

What is the Omdia Managed BDR Leadership Matrix?
The Omdia Global Managed BDR Leadership Matrix evaluates vendors that provide backup and disaster recovery solutions for MSPs. The June 2026 report assessed 15 vendors that met strict qualification criteria, including:
- At least $50 million in annual BDR revenue.
- A dedicated MSP go-to-market strategy.
- More than 50% of business generated through the channel.
Omdia uses a proprietary Leadership Matrix methodology built around three major assessment areas:
Analyst assessment
Omdia analysts evaluate each vendor's:
- Partner vision and leadership
- Execution of partner strategy
- Portfolio competitiveness
- Product innovation and recent launches
- Future channel initiatives
Ecosystem feedback
Omdia gathers input directly from the partner community, including:
- Partner enablement
- Sales engagement
- Program quality
- Overall partner experience
- Analyst interviews with MSPs
Performance metrics
Omdia also assesses vendors on measurable business performance, including:
- Revenue growth
- Market share
- Momentum compared with the previous 12 months
Omdia uses those three inputs to produce two key scores:
- Leadership, reflecting a vendor's current competitive position.
- Momentum, measuring how much the vendor has improved relative to its peers over the past year.
How the Leadership Matrix defines Champions
The Leadership Matrix places vendors into four categories:
- Champions deliver high leadership scores while continuing to improve strategy, execution and innovation.
- Contenders maintain strong leadership but have been outpaced by competitors.
- Scalers are improving rapidly but have not yet achieved consistent excellence.
- Foundations have lower partner sentiment and performance than their peers.
Champions demonstrate sustained execution, partner confidence and continued investment in future growth.
Why Omdia named Acronis a Champion
Omdia highlighted several factors that contributed to Acronis earning Champion status once again.
According to the report, Acronis has:
- More than 21,000 service providers using the platform.
- More than 750,000 businesses protected.
- A strong MSP-first strategy.
- Continued expansion of its cybersecurity capabilities, including XDR, MDR and AI Copilot.
Another important factor in the Champion distinction was the launch of Acronis Cyber Frame, an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) solution protected by default with backup, security, remote monitoring and management (RMM) and disaster recovery built in.
The report also cited continued innovation, specifically noting the introduction of GenAI protection in 2026. And Omdia added that Acronis has made significant investment in partner enablement. The Acronis MSP Academy trained more than 4,000 partner employees per quarter across 162 countries during 2025, and certifications doubled year over year.
Why repeat Champion status for Acronis matters for MSPs
A vendor can achieve high rankings by having a strong year, but retaining Champion status demonstrates sustained and consistent execution. For MSPs, that consistency translates into greater confidence that their technology partner is continuing to invest in innovation, security, service delivery and ultimately partner profitability.
As backup increasingly becomes part of a broader cyber resilience strategy, MSPs benefit from choosing technology partners that continue to invest in integrated cyber resiliencep. Acronis also delivers a comprehensive, natively integrated platform for MSPs with Acronis Cyber Platform, which brings together cybersecurity, data protection, infrastructure management, service automation and cloud infrastructure in a unified platform with a single point of control.
Key backup capabilities in Acronis Cyber Platform include:
- Image-based and file-level backup.
- Protection for physical, virtual and cloud workloads.
- Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backup.
- Immutable storage options.
- Flexible cloud and local recovery.
- Centralized multitenant management for MSPs.
- Built-in ransomware protection and backup validation.
For MSPs, Acronis Disaster Recovery provides:
- Fast cloud failover.
- Automated disaster recovery orchestration.
- Flexible recovery testing without disrupting production.
- Recovery point and recovery time objectives that help minimize downtime.
- Simplified management from the same platform used for backup and cybersecurity.
With those capabilities natively integrated into a single platform, MSPs can reduce operational complexity, avoid managing multiple disconnected tools and deliver comprehensive cyber resilience services more efficiently.
Independent validation of continued leadership
