Acronis Donates Disaster Recovery Software to Salt Lake Cap Head Start

Acronis True Image Server 7.0 Will Cornerstone the Organization’s First Secure Backup Strategy

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, July 13, 2004 — Acronis, Inc., the technological leader in storage management software, recently donated two Acronis True Image Server 7.0 licenses to Utah's Salt Lake CAP* Head Start Program. The disaster recovery software, a $1,000 value, will ensure the security and integrity of mission-critical data for the non-profit organization, as well as save financial resources and reduce the recovery time significantly should one of the group's systems fails.

Head Start is a federal educational program for low-income children and their families run by local non-profit agencies. Salt Lake CAP Head Start serves more than 2,000 children and families in the Salt Lake and Tooele Counties and currently stores important information on its two live servers. The first server stores confidential client information, while the second server contains employment information for more than 350 employees and volunteers, as well as handling billing and accounting functions.

"Before the use of Acronis True Image 7.0, the organization had no way of backing up its Windows-based servers and relied on file-based backup only," said Matt Ulmer, Salt Lake CAP Head Start IT Administrator. "Had there been a catastrophe, it would have taken days to repair the systems, putting all our users out of work until computers were in a workable state again and significantly impacting our ability to serve our client families. Some information might never have been retrieved.

"Now that we have Acronis True Image 7.0 installed, network managers are able to create identical disk images of the live servers and recover the system within several minutes. Should there be a computer disaster, the computers can be restored without time-consuming software reinstallations or configuring the systems to meet our requirements. We will be working exactly the way we were before the failure. This results in cost-effective server protection sending employees back to work quickly without waiting for network repairs," Ulmer said.

"Acronis is happy to do its part as a good corporate citizen," said Max Tsypliaev, CEO of Acronis. "Our company has been growing steadily and this is one way we can give back to the community that has supported us. Organizations like Head Start help those members of our community that need it most — our children — and we're proud to be partners with them in this very important endeavor."
