Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 7.0 ships; more than a dozen features added

Pop-up and spyware blocker, password cleanup, total disk wiping among the new capabilities for privacy suite

November 25, 2003, South San Francisco, CA — Acronis, Inc., the technological leader in systems software development, announced the immediate availability of Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 7.0. The package provides corporate and individual users with the ability to protect confidential data by permanently removing all copies and trace data from cache files, logs and other parts of the disk drive where records of the data and computing activity are stored. It also allows users to enhance their personal privacy and protect their computers from downloading unwanted software.

Among the features added to Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 7.0 are a pop-up advertising and spyware blocker, the ability to completely erase typed passwords from logs and other files, erasure of Web-based forms from your browser software, enhanced mailer support, the ability to distinguish between last-visited URLs and typed URLs for clean-up, and a scheduler to automate the system-cleansing process.

The software also has enhanced features that can be used to obliterate all data from a disk drive in order to prepare it for redeployment or disposal. Formerly known as Acronis Drive Cleanser, this feature allows the user to select from one of seven international data destruction techniques to eliminate completely old data on a disk drive. This utility, which sold as a standalone product for $49.99, is now included in Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 7.0 at no extra charge. Acronis Privacy Expert Suite carries a suggested list price of just $39.99.

"Users are not only privacy-conscious today, they are also value-conscious," said Max Tsypliaev, president of Acronis. "They know there are competitive products that claim to provide privacy, but require that the user buy many separate modules to get that confidentiality. That drives the price of privacy out of reach of the average PC user.

"Today's launch reinforces our commitment to providing corporate and individual users with best-of-breed privacy utilities. Unlike security software, that physically protects hardware, our privacy software safeguards the integrity of users' information and maintains confidentiality," he said.

Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 7.0 has more than a dozen new features. The software increases system performance and protects the user from prying eyes. It works equally well in protecting and keeping private user data and Internet activity and provides a simple, one-button interface to clean the entire PC.

Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 7.0 runs on all Windows-based operating systems from Windows 95 to XP Professional. It is available now at retail stores, from computer resellers and VARs, the Acronis Web site and from other online stores.
