How are you celebrating Cybersecurity Awareness Month?
It’s no exaggeration to say that digital disruption has reshaped and reinvented nearly every major industry over the last couple of decades. From finance to healthcare, from manufacturing to transportation — the modern world is more dependent than ever on data. Naturally, safeguarding that data — and the organizations that rely on it — is absolutely vital. Now in its 17th year, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month is an initiative led by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, intended to raise awareness about cyberthreats and the strategies we can take to protect our systems and sensitive data. October 2020 also marks the ninth year of European Cybersecurity Month — the European Union’s annual campaign dedicated to promoting cybersecurity and sharing best practices around the topic of staying protected online.

Pandemic protection lessons: IT teams reflect on their cyber readiness
The COVID pandemic threw the strengths and weaknesses of organizational IT stacks into sharp relief. Now – half a year after most offices closed and work transitioned to remote work environments – we’re taking a look back at how businesses around the world performed through the sudden, dramatic shift. To do that, we surveyed more than 3,000 remote workers and IT managers around the world about their experiences both during and following the migration to remote work environments in our first Acronis Cyber Readiness Report. Learn how IT teams at organizations worldwide led their organizations through the unexpected, navigated a sudden jump in environment and security complexity, and how your team can stay prepared for the next challenges that are in store with this report deep-dive.

The Future of Remote Work and How to Get Prepared

That shift led to major changes for organizations and employees as security, connectivity, and support needs spread overnight. To determine how businesses were able to cope with this migration to remote work environments – and where their people, processes, and tech wasn’t up for the task – we surveyed more than 3,000 remote workers and IT managers around the world. Hear how remote workers experienced this shift, how their views on in-office work have changed, and how your organization can prepare for the future of remote work with the 2020 Acronis Cyber Readiness Report deep-dive.

All-encompassing tragedy prevention: The reviews are in for Acronis True Image 2021
Last week’s release of Acronis True Image 2021 has certainly been well-received by the individuals, prosumers, and small businesses looking for cyber protection – and that’s the true measure of success for our team. Yet it was also good to see that the new release made some good impressions on the analysts and media outlets that follow the personal and small business software and cybersecurity industries. As the first truly comprehensive personal cyber protection solution – integrating advanced cybersecurity with our best-of-breed backup – we knew it would generate some interest. Considering how many over-hyped pitches these industry observers regularly get, it’s been refreshing to see them recognize the revolutionary nature of this release.

Acronis True Image 2021’s integrated antimalware aces AV-TEST analysis
When Acronis created the concept of cyber protection – the integration of reliable backups and effective cybersecurity – it was because we saw how hackers were creating more sophisticated attacks that start by corrupting backup software, disabling backup agents, and altering backup files.

Acronis True Image 2021: Introducing the world’s first complete personal cyber protection solution
In today’s digital world, you can lose data in any number of ways. You can accidentally delete something you need. Your hard drive can fail. And now there’s a never-ending array of malware threats that usually start their attacks by targeting your backups so you have no way to recover. And, until now, there hasn’t been a single solution that addressed it all. With today’s release of Acronis True Image 2021, that all changes. That’s because the new Acronis True Image integrates advanced cybersecurity capabilities with our best-of-breed personal backup. The result is the world’s first complete personal cyber protection solution – purpose-built to make protection easier to manage and more affordable, while greatly improving the security of data and devices.

Targeted phishing takes aim at Acronis – and loses
Phishing attacks, which involve criminals posing as legitimate contacts use emails and instant messaging to trick victims into providing valuable information like login credentials and banking or credit card details, is a major challenge for organizations ... and it’s on the rise. The Anti-Phishing Working Group’s (APWG) Phishing Activity Trends Report for Q1 2020 notes that phishing attacks rose to the highest level since 2016, with more than 60,000 phishing sites being reported in March alone. As a member of APWG, Acronis can confirm that we’ve seen an uptick as well and Acronis employees of all levels receive well-crafted phishing emails every day. Let’s look at one recent example that targeted one of our c-level executives.

Arsenal FC seamlessly transitions to working from home during lockdown with help from Acronis
Long before the COVID-19 pandemic, Arsenal had been working hard to implement new technology to allow its workforce to work from home on an ad-hoc basis. This included the implementation of collaborative and cloud-based technology. Then the crisis hit. According to Christelle Heikkila, IT Director at Arsenal, “we had a seamless transition for our entire workforce to work from home as soon as lockdown started, from every department around the world as far as Singapore and Australia.” Acronis has been with Arsenal every step of the way, taking proactive measures to keep Arsenal cyber safe, including the provision of backups for its cloud-based data to give it additional peace of mind. Arsenal was also an early adopter of Acronis Cyber Protect, which has cybersecurity features like a full-stack antivirus solution, vulnerability assessments, patch management, and URL filtering. Here's a look at how their transition went.

Phishing is back in the news, but it never really went away
The recent embarrassing hack of Twitter that led to the compromise of some very famous accounts (Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Barack Obama, et. al.) for use in a bitcoin-stealing scam grabbed global headlines for a few days. The story started winding down with the arrests of three young men in the UK and Florida.  Twitter should feel lucky today that the thieves only set their sights on a small payday (netting less than $120K before they got caught) rather than broadcasting false headlines that might have shaken global financial markets. It’s a useful reminder that phishing remains among the most popular and successful attack vectors for a variety of cybercrimes, accounting for some 30% of all breaches.
