3 Steps to Restore Your Server in Mere Minutes
Disk-imaging technology, faster storage, and new protocols have changed the average recovery time objectives (RTOs) from hours to minutes. But in the modern world, data is so critical that many businesses are working to reduce RTOs even further, and with good reason. Today a business that doesn’t have access to its data can lose $100,000 every hour, in addition to the potentially huge costs of recovering that data.

Why Delivering Managed IT Services is Advantageous – and How to Sell Them with Ease
Making money is the number one business objective no matter who you are or what you do. And with the global managed services market expected to hit $282 billion by 2021, it’s no surprise IT consultants and technology resellers are wondering: What are managed IT services really? Could it be a way to expand my business and get a piece of that pie?

Ransomware Attack Costs $1.5 Million in Riviera Beach, FL
The city of Riviera Beach, Florida made news recently when it announced it was paying approximately $600,000 in ransom to undo a ransomware attack it suffered in late May. In addition to the ransom paid, officials also invested more than $900,000 into new hardware in the hopes that they do not have the same vulnerabilities as the old ones. That’s $1.5 million in damages from one attack.

Cashing In on Crime: GandCrab May End, But The Threat of Ransomware Continues
They say crime doesn’t pay, but clearly the architects behind GandCrab ransomware didn’t get that memo. They recently announced they were retiring thanks to the money they’ve made encrypting victims’ computers. At the beginning of June, operators of the notorious GandCrab strain of ransomware announced that “all good things come to an end” and they are ceasing their operations. Unfortunately the success they reported will likely provide a roadmap for other cybercriminals that will continue for a long time.

Ransomware Crushes Another Manufacturing Industry Target
Another of the world’s major manufacturers was laid low recently by a ransomware attack. Production at ASCO, the giant Belgian airplane parts maker, has been halted for over a week with no end in sight. Nearly 1,000 employees have been sent home on paid leave while the company struggles to restore critical systems frozen by the malware assault. Unfortunately, the fate of ASCO has been shared by many organizations that are ill-prepared to combat the world’s deadliest malware threat. The incident reflects a number of major trends in the ongoing struggle between cybercriminals and their targets in the public and private sector.

Acronis SDI Update Available to Counter the MDS Vulnerabilities in Intel Processors
Last week it was revealed that certain Intel processors contain a new set of hardware vulnerabilities that enables “speculative execution attacks”. In these attacks, a malicious app or guest virtual machine gains access to the data stored inside CPU buffers – allowing hackers to bypass the security restrictions on the system. The bad news: The researchers who found the MDS bug say it likely affects all Intel CPUs released since 2011 – and as a result, Acronis Software-Defined Infrastructure could be exposed to an attack. The good news: As soon as the problem was identified, Acronis immediately developed a fix so your data won’t be at risk once you’ve installed the update.

Why Acronis Files Cloud Is the most secure cloud file sharing service
Over a decade has passed since “cloud computing” entered the global vocabulary. In that time, the ideas of cloud computing, cloud storage, and cloud services have been depicted alternately as a fad and as the future of IT, as compellingly easy-to-use and unapproachably complex, and as woefully unsafe and more secure than traditional computing.

RobbinHood: The New Ransomware Variant Crippling Municipal Governments in the U.S.
Ransomware continues its reign as one of the most pervasive malware threats to assail businesses, government institutions and consumers in 2019, with new variants appearing almost daily. One particularly nasty new strain of ransomware, dubbed RobbinHood, recently locked up critical IT systems and brought down corresponding public services in two North American cities: Greenville, NC and Baltimore, MD.
