During the Minister
for Manpower Dr. Tan See Leng’s visit to the Singapore R&D Centre, Acronis
showcased its efforts in upskilling and reskilling programs for local talent
SINGAPORE, 17 September 2024 – Acronis, a global leader in cybersecurity and data protection, hosted Minister for
Manpower Dr. Tan See Leng at its Singapore R&D Centre at Suntec City, where
the company demonstrated its commitment to continuous learning through its
extensive upskilling and reskilling programs as well as On-the-Job Training
(OJT). The visit provided an opportunity to highlight Acronis’ efforts to
equip its employees with several workforce development opportunities aimed to
enhance local talent and drive innovation in the region to support the
company’s business transformation and product roadmap.
As part of its
workforce development efforts, Acronis also participated in Workforce
Singapore (WSG)’s Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Tech
Professionals. Through this initiative, 30 R&D engineers participated
in a comprehensive three-month OJT program aimed at upskilling and reskilling
talent to align with the company’s growth strategy. The engineers received
targeted training in key areas such as software architecture, full stack
development, incident investigation, and AI/ML engineering, among other
high-demand competencies, enhancing their ability to contribute to Acronis'
evolving technological goals. In the pilot run of the program, the
participating engineers will complete the CCP by the end of September 2024.
Vladimir Zatsepin, Vice President and Head of the
Acronis Singapore R&D Centre, commented on the importance of this
initiative. "As Acronis evolves to deliver the best all-in-one,
natively integrated platform for cC, providing our engineers with the latest
skillsets is essential. The CCP not only aligns our workforce with our product
development strategy, but it also empowers our team to drive innovation on a
global scale. We are committed to investing in our people. By
continuously upskilling and reskilling our engineers, we’re not only supporting
our continued product innovation, but also uplifting our entire R&D team in
Singapore to ultimately benefit our customers worldwide."
Since Acronis opened its R&D Centre
in Singapore in 2015, the company has successfully hired and trained 179 local
engineers, including interns, new graduates, and mid-career professionals. The
collaboration with WSG further underscores Acronis’ commitment to nurturing
local talent and fostering a culture of continuous learning within its
workforce.
William Chan, Team Lead for Cybersecurity
Development and a participant in the CCP, shared his experience from the
program. "In 2018, I started my career journey at Acronis as a
software developer. Since then, I’ve grown to lead a talented team of seven
engineers. The structured training programs at Acronis have enabled me to
continuously grow and stay abreast of the latest advancements in cybersecurity
and software development. This strong culture of continuous learning has been instrumental
in shaping my career, and I am excited to now give back by mentoring
the next generation of engineers at Acronis."
The OJT and upskilling programs at
Acronis are led by experienced supervisors with a deep expertise in their
respective fields, which provides invaluable mentorship to Acronis’ engineers
as they enhance their competencies in line with the company’s evolving business
needs. Acronis’ R&D team in Singapore has played an instrumental role in
the development of many of the company’s flagship products, including Acronis Cyber Protect. As the company continues to push the
boundaries of cyber protection and continue its path of innovation, ensuring
that its workforce remains highly skilled and adaptive to the latest
technological advancements is essential to the company’s long-term success.
