The ground beneath IT teams is shifting faster than ever. Whether it’s regulatory pressure, vendor shake ups, cost unpredictability or hybrid cloud complexity, one thing is clear: Resilience is no longer just about cybersecurity and backup. It’s about adaptability.

That’s the heartbeat of the latest Acronis Cyber Protect release. Acronis has rolled out the latest release of Acronis Cyber Protect with a litany of new features, including Email Archiving for Microsoft 365, Nutanix Agentless Backup, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) for Linux and more.

But it’s not just an update. It’s a response to a rapidly changing world where compliance is tightening, disaster recovery costs can spiral and infrastructure choices are more fluid than ever. Right now, IT teams need less friction, more automation and total clarity.

Discover how the newest Acronis Cyber Protect release helps you build a modern, resilient cyber defense.

New capabilities in Acronis Cyber Protect

Acronis Cyber Protect version 16 update 4 delivers critical new features, including:

Email Archiving for Microsoft 365: SaaS email archiving for Microsoft 365, featuring powerful search and rapid access that simplifies e-discovery and compliance with regulatory requirements, including GDPR, HIPAA and NIS 2.

Nutanix agentless virtual machine backup: Agentless virtual machine (VM) backup with flexible cloud storage and cross-platform recovery, including VMware migrations. Agentless backup delivers workload mobility and recovery across physical, virtual and cloud environments.

Simple, cost-effective disaster recovery pricing: Flat-fee, per-workload disaster recovery billing with no extra charges for storage or backup archives. Just count the workloads — compute and storage are included.

Modular agent installation: An agent that enables you to install only what’s needed. You can skip Active Protection when it’s not required for lightweight, backup-only deployments.

Streamlined recovery: A feature that lets recovered machines auto-rejoin domains, reducing manual effort and accelerating the recovery process.

Simplified licensing: License co-termination and updated SKUs for Microsoft 365 and disaster recovery. This new licensing makes purchasing, managing and renewing simpler than ever.

Linux EDR and new OS support: Linux endpoint protection and expanded OS support. Acronis now offers broader compatibility and stronger endpoint protection across client environments.

How the new Acronis Cyber Protect enables organizations to overcome challenges

The new version of Acronis Cyber Protect delivers functionality that enables organizations to meet and overcome challenges they face in a rapidly shifting IT environment.

Compliance

The compliance wave is here, and Acronis makes riding it easy. As regulations like GDPR, HIPAA and NIS 2 evolve and cyber insurers develop stricter requirements for coverage, your ability to provide proof of data hygiene and discovery isn’t just helpful, it’s essential.

That’s where Acronis Email Archiving for Microsoft 365 comes in. With SaaS-native e-discovery, lightning-fast search and long-term retention, this feature takes the sting out of maintaining compliance. It also enables you to meet legal and regulatory demands with confidence and without bolting on clunky third-party tools. In a world of growing audit trails, fast, integrated email archiving isn’t a bonus. It’s your safety net.

VM migration

When you migrate to another virtual machine, your workloads shouldn’t be anchored. The enterprise is moving, and many organizations are moving away from VMware. Following Broadcom’s acquisition and aggressive price changes, technology observers have witnessed a wave of migrations to Nutanix.

Acronis anticipated the migration and has delivered agentless Nutanix VM backup with full cross-platform recovery — including back to VMware, if needed. It’s a breakthrough for workload mobility across cloud, virtual and physical environments. When your infrastructure evolves, your cyber protection should glide, not stumble.

Disaster recovery

Acronis Cyber Protect delivers disaster recovery without budget disasters. Pricing complexity is often the hidden enemy of disaster recovery: Per-gig storage charges, unexpected compute costs and backup archive fees can cause chaos. It's enough to derail even the best-laid disaster recovery plans.

Now, Acronis simplifies everything with a flat, per-workload pricing model. There are no hidden charges, and there is no fine print. There’s just one predictable price. With a solution as high stakes as disaster recovery, clarity equals confidence.

The new update to Acronis Cyber Protect delivers protection that fits the job, not the other way around. Sometimes, you just need backup with no frills.

With modular agent installation, you can now deploy only what’s necessary, skipping components like Active Protection if you don’t need them. It’s ideal for lightweight endpoints or air-gapped environments, including operational technology (OT) systems. Smart deployments aren’t bloated. They’re tailored.

Simpler recovery capabilities

Recovery shouldn’t mean reinventing the wheel. When you're restoring a system under pressure, the fewer steps you have to take, the better. The latest update introduces auto-domain rejoining for recovered machines, eliminating tedious manual configurations and reauthentication tasks. Speed isn’t just about the how fast backup is. It’s about how quickly you’re back in action.

Simplified licensing

Acronis Cyber Protect now offers licensing that doesn’t get in your way. Acronis has cleaned up licensing with co-termination of licenses and streamlined SKUs for Microsoft 365 and disaster recovery services. That means fewer renewals to juggle, fewer surprises at purchase time and less administration time for IT leads. True resilience is operational, starting with how you buy, manage and renew.

Expansion of endpoint protection environments

The new version delivers endpoint protection for all environments, even those often ignored. Too many security platforms treat Linux like a second-class citizen. Acronis doesn’t. The latest release introduces full EDR support for Linux, expanding protection across all major OS platforms.

With broader OS support, your mixed environment finally gets unified protection, with fewer gaps, fewer tools and fewer excuses. Threats don’t care what operating system you run. Now, neither does your defense stack.

One platform, zero guesswork. All resilience.

IT is changing all the time, in real time. You need a platform that does the same. The new Acronis Cyber Protect update reflects what matters most in this dynamic new landscape:

  • Compliance you can prove.
  • Workload mobility with no friction.
  • Disaster recovery with zero surprise costs.
  • Lightweight protection with heavyweight results.
  • Recovery that truly saves time.
  • Licensing that doesn’t confuse or complicate.
  • EDR that doesn’t leave Linux behind.

Resilience is now also about adaptability, and that’s exactly what Acronis Cyber Protect delivers.
