Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Achieves VMware Ready™ Status

Acronis provides peace of mind to IT administrators migrating to virtual environments

Woburn, Mass., April 13, 2010 - Acronis, (http://www.acronis.com), a provider of affordable, scalable onsite and offsite backup, disaster recovery and security solutions, today announced that its Acronis® Backup & Recovery™ 10 Advanced Server Virtual Edition has achieved VMware Ready™ status, making it the only disk image-based backup and recovery product for physical and virtual environments certified for the VMware platform.

Acronis has passed a detailed evaluation and testing process managed by VMware and is now listed on the VMware Partner Product Catalog. Passing the VMware-specified testing helps ensure that Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server Virtual Edition makes use of VMware technology and is a reliable and scalable solution for deployment in customer environments. The enhancements can be found in Update 2 for Acronis Backup & Recovery 10, which is available to customers beginning today.

"We are pleased that Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server Virtual Edition has earned the VMware Ready certification, signifying to customers that it has passed specific VMware testing and interoperability criteria, and is ready to run in production environments," said Bernie Mills, Senior Director, Alliance Programs, VMware.

"By using Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 in VMware environments, Acronis helps organizations safely and securely take advantage of the benefits of virtualization while protecting the information that resides on those machines," said Ismail Azeri, Vice President of Business and Corporate Development, Acronis. "The combination of Migration, Management, Deduplication and Backup Reporting capabilities now alongside VMware Ready status, insures customers have a very strong Backup and Disaster Recovery solution for VMware virtualization environments."

The VMware Ready program is a VMware co-branding program for qualified partner products and is a benefit of the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program. With more than 1,300 members worldwide, the VMware TAP program works with best-of-breed technology partners to provide them a comprehensive set of VMware technical and marketing services, support, tools and expertise to deliver enhanced value to joint customers.

Stephen Mann of Ovum (formerly the Butler Group) believes that Acronis has assembled an impressive set of technologies that allow flexible and efficient backup and recovery in heterogeneous and significantly virtualized environments. "The vendor has an impeccable backup software pedigree and, in terms of functional capabilities, Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server Virtual Edition ranks highly against similar products aimed at the requirements of its target market," said Mann.
