Acronis To Help the Yellow Ribbon Fund Increase Inmates Employability with IT Literacy

Singaporean data protection company supports the Yellow Ribbon Fund with a long-term commitment of at least $1 million in cash and services within the next 10 years, providing education to people with prior convictions.

SINGAPORE - Switzerland, April 6, 2018 - Acronis, a global leader in hybrid cloud data protection and storage, is proud to announce the launch of a new initiative, a partnership with the Yellow Ribbon Fund aimed at helping ex-offenders and their families rebuild their lives. Called the YRF - Acronis IT Skills Programme, it will offer certified IT training to current inmates. The official announcement was made today at the Criminal Bar Charity Gala, organized by the Law Society of Singapore.

Marking the company's 15-year anniversary, this project embodies the core belief in the ultimate value of knowledge - a belief on which Acronis was built. Acronis put that belief into action at the gala by donating $100,000 to the Yellow Ribbon Fund as part of its long-term commitment.

Acronis also announced a long-term commitment to invest at least $1 million in cash and services over the next 10 years into the YRF - Acronis IT Skills Programme. By completing the training, the ex-offenders will acquire essential computer skills, dramatically increasing their future employability.

The decade-long partnership combines the best efforts and expertise from both Acronis and the Yellow Ribbon Fund, and serves as a promise to create a better, safer Singapore - one where education is available to everyone, regardless of their social, economic or cultural background.

"One of our most fundamental beliefs is that knowledge is everything. We're certain that people with prior convictions can have a better life if given the opportunity to obtain new knowledge and new skills. The YRF - Acronis IT Skills Programme will lower their chances of relapsing and help them restore their lives," commented Serg Bell, Founder & CEO of Acronis.

By adding the IT training component to an already existing cluster of educational opportunities, Acronis and the Yellow Ribbon Fund plan to create a favourable environment so ex-offenders can secure a steady job, improving their life and the life of their families.

"We're incredibly grateful to Acronis' team for its initiative and agreeing to share its remarkable expertise," said Mrs. Wong Ai Ai, Chairman of the Yellow Ribbon Fund.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, Acronis is proud of its Singaporean roots - the country it was founded in is also home to its international headquarters. That is why Acronis is committed to supporting community projects driven by the government and local non-profit organizations.

In addition to its local contributions, Acronis is engaged in a number of similar projects around the world. Last year the company opened a school in a remote village in Myanmar for more than 150 children, with more schools planned to be built this year in countries, where they're needed. Acronis executives are always eager to share their vision and insights with younger generations by building schools, providing training courses, and engaging in university projects.
