Offering trials
An offering trial lets a customer try one offering for a limited time before the customer pays for it. Use it to show an existing customer the value of an offering that the customer does not use yet, so that the customer can decide to buy it. As a partner administrator, you start offering trials for customers that already exist.
Offering trials and the Trial pricing mode
An offering trial is different from the Trial pricing mode. The pricing mode applies to the whole tenant. An offering trial applies to one offering of a customer. You cannot use offering trials for a customer in the Trial pricing mode. For such a customer, the Trials section does not appear.
An offering is a capability that you sell to clients. Each offering includes one or more offering items. When an offering trial starts, the offering items of the offering are enabled together.
Where offering trials appear
Offering trials appear in the Trials section at the top of the Services page of the client details. You can collapse and expand the section. The Documentation link in the section opens the documentation about offering trials.
When the Services page is in edit mode, the Trials section shows only a summary: the number and the names of the offerings that are in trial. If no offering is in trial, the summary says No services are in trial on this client. You can start a trial only in view mode.
The Trials section does not appear when no billing mode of the customer supports offering trials.
Offerings that a customer can try
A customer can try an offering when all of the following conditions are true:
-
The offering supports trials.
-
The customer has no usage of the offering now.
-
The customer never had a trial of the offering before.
-
The active billing mode of the customer allows a trial of the offering.
Storage offerings and Disaster Recovery offerings do not support offering trials.
Trial states
Each offering in the Trials section has one of the following states:
-
Available – the customer can try the offering. You can start a trial.
-
In trial – the trial is active. The state shows how many days are left. For example, In trial (10 days left).
-
Ended – the trial is over. The customer cannot try the offering again.
Duration and end of a trial
An offering trial lasts a set number of days.
When a trial ends, the offering converts to production billing, and the customer pays for its usage. To avoid charges, the customer must remove the usage before the trial ends. For an offering in trial, the How to end trial link opens the documentation of the offering in a new browser tab.
You cannot stop or reset an offering trial in Cyber Console. Only the Support team can reset a trial, after a request from the partner.
