Agent updates
Agent update settings decide which agent version the devices of a customer receive, and whether and when the agents update automatically.
In Cyber Console, the Agent updates screen is under Settings > General settings > Agent updates. The settings apply to Agent for Windows, Agent for Linux, Agent for Mac, and Cyber Files Cloud Agent for File Sync & Share.
You can also configure agent updates for one client from the client details. On the Clients screen, open the client, and then go to Settings > Agent updates.
Your tenant and your clients
If your tenant has child tenants, the screen has a tenant selector. The screen opens on your own tenant, with its settings loaded. When you select a customer, the screen shows the settings of that customer.
When you select the root entry, you configure the settings of your own tenant. When you select a customer and change its settings, the change applies only to that customer. A customer that you selected elsewhere in Cyber Console, or on an earlier visit, is not carried over.
Default settings
A customer that has no settings of its own uses the settings of your own tenant. In edit mode, Current settings: default means that the selected customer uses these settings. If the customer has its own settings, Reset to default settings appears instead. When you reset the settings and save the change, the customer uses the settings of your own tenant again.
Update channel
The update channel decides which agent version the devices receive:
-
Latest – the latest available version of the agent. This channel is the default.
-
Previous stable – the most recent stable version of the agent from previous releases.
Automatic and manual updates
With automatic updates, the agents update themselves during the maintenance window, in the local time of the device. Users cannot prevent or postpone an automatic update. For this reason, the best maintenance window is the time that disrupts the users the least.
The maintenance window consists of a start time, an end time, and the days of the week. By default, the maintenance window is daily, from 23:00 to 08:00 in the local time of the device. If your tenant or the customer has no maintenance window, the screen shows the maintenance window as Disabled. When you enable the maintenance window, the screen sets it to Monday, 00:00–00:00.
If the maintenance window is disabled, the agents can update and the devices can restart at any time.
Automatic updates are available only for the following agents:
-
Cyber Protect agent version 26986 (released in May 2021) or later
-
Desktop Agent for File Sync & Share version 15.0.30370 or later
You must update an older agent manually to the latest version before automatic updates can take effect on it.
With manual updates, you update the agents yourself. Automatic updates are the recommended mode, because they keep the agents current with performance improvements, bug fixes, and protection and security features.
With manual updates, you can still enforce automatic updates for unsupported versions, that is, for agents that are older than six months. Enforced updates reduce the security risks and the technical issues that outdated agents cause. Enforced updates use the same maintenance window as automatic updates. If automatic updates were not enabled before the C25.02 release, the Enforce automatic updates for unsupported versions checkbox is selected.
